I'm gonna be a semmie this fall, but I probably won't get a cassock for several years (I'm entering the college seminary, it will be another 4 years till I'm in the theology school).

lol at subject line.

Great pictures of your cassocks.

Alas, can't join the club as English Seminarians don't wear clericals until Diaconate (except those in Rome where it comes with candidacy). When I'm MCing, I wear an alb, though my fellow seminary MC wars cassock and cotta using the somewhat tenuous justification that since he dosen't wear a collar, this dosen't count as clerical dress ;)

Tempting...

Whilst on the cassock theme, I have a mildly amusing story for you. A friend of mine was measured for a Cassock whilst in his second year of Seminary. The tailor put the tape measure round his waist, then took it out an inch and said "third year", then another inch and said "fourth year"... Sure enough it fits perfectly now he's been ordained"!

Theologian in Training

Funny you should say that. I just went to visit a priest friend today, and he greeted me with his cassock on. What was even more intresting though, was that he also wore it when we went to the mall. It was funny observing people, even though most seemed to respect it.

Personally, I do not have a cassock.

God Bless

Don't worry, you'll love it when you get one.

I tend to think that cassocks are tools for evangelization. People ask what they are and it might lead into a conversation or relationship that could bring a great conversion.

Also, when I wear my cassock and do good things to help people, they associate "good" with "Catholic".
