Guest Guest
I've always worn a scapular in devotion, but only recently only found out that one must be invested. What does that mean? Is it a long service? Who can do it? And if I'm invested, do I have to get invested every time I have a new scapular? (I wear them out pretty quickly and also give them away). thanks. cappie
Usually the "Brown Scapular" of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has a prayer attached to it which invests the person concerned with the rights of a member of the Third Order Carmelites. The ceremony takes about 5 mins max. Any Priest can do this, if your priest doesn't know what you are talking about and you need the ceremony you could contact the Carmelites in your area. I live in Australia so can't help you in that area. Once enrolled you may purchase a new scapular but don't need to be re-enrolled.
