DiscerningSoul
I am going to Adoration and fasting. Some mortifications that I have done are: Take a cold shower with the lights out. Kneel while saying the rosary, no supprt and try for an hour. Tied string on my ankles to remind myself I am bound to God. Don't use the heat or A/C in the car. Sleep on the floor with no pillow. Donate a whole pay check to your church. Don't complain and/or defend youself if someones says you did something wrong. (OH SO HARD!) Go without TV, radio and lights. Swat myself with a cord. (Not enought to cut, just sting) Don't spend any money for 24 hours. Put a small stone in your shoe. Prays!
she_who_is_not
No coffee for me tomorrow, which is a real fast because lately that is all I consume. Will add a rosary, too.

puellapaschalis
No meat, coagulated milk, eggs, milk and such. Other than a fruit juice at breakfast, water to drink. No lunch. A friend is coming for dinner so I'll likely toss a whole load of coagulated milk in. I've just been to Mass and it was cool

jckinsman
I have not been on in days, I love this! At this time of uncertainty in our nation we need this! I am in,without question, and now that First Friday seems good for people lets pin this and do First Fridays as a whole huge PHAMILY! : One big happy PHAMILY PHASTING for the Lord on PHIRST PHRIDAYS! That could be the title of the pin! I guess that I'd better go drink my water and be off for the day. I knew I should have went to mass today! Selah
I'll be fasting as well. Here are some mortifications I am doing. I thought I would share like Discerning Soul did ( I borrowed some ): -Cold Shower -Don't complain and/or defend youself if someones says you did something wrong. (OH SO HARD!) - I put one stone in each shoe. - No sweets of any kind AT ALL...Talk about hard - Swat myself with a cord, but not enough to draw blood - Not quite a mortification, but I am carrying my Rosary beads with me everywhere. Sigh...I'll be praying non stop, of course. Lord, have mercy. Hope it's enough. Edited October 3, 2008 by Selah
DiscerningSoul
I fasted this morning on bread and water but at adoration I got very queezy during my rosary, my head hurt and such, I thanked the Lord for this suffering, but I sat and had my head in my hands most of the times. I am breaking my fast now and eating dinner. I hope God heard my prayers.

So...Once a month on the first friday in that month. Fast as you see fit or can,due to health, offer up prayers and some choose mortification. What ever you choose,we know this is a powerful form of prayer. If we all do it together its just that much more powerful. We gather for this as a Phamily. Hopefully we will pin this site as an official PHATMASS PHAMILY PHIRST PHRIDAY PHAST . Every one of them will be linked to an intention for the month. For now it will be for the election and the nation.
