dairygirl4u2c
Just a couple of quick ?'s. What does the CC teach forgiveness means? What do you all automatically think forgiveness means?
Jericho923
i think that the definition of forgiveness is clear in this passage: Lk 6:27-38 in respect to what the Church teaches, i would have to say that is easier to find in actions of the faithful than in writing: Pope John Paul II was shot almost to death...after recovering he visited his would-be-assassin, forgave him and heard his confession; St. Stephen prayed for those that were putting him to death. Maria Goretti forgave the man who stabbed her after an attempted rape...she died after that....all imitators of Jesus who prayed for us as he was dying on the Cross! Otherwise start with the forgiveness of sins through Baptism; this link will take you the Catechism of the Catholic Church: http://www.christusrex.org/www1/CDHN/art10.html
Livin_the_MASS
Forgivness means loving your enimes. Praying for those who treat you like dirt. We must forgive others sins in order for us to be forgiven. Like in the "Our Father" we pray "and fogive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us." This prayer came stright from the TRUTHS mouth. We ask forgivness but we must forgive others as well. "Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect." "He lets the sun rise on the good and the bad." Christ came for mercy. He was still forgiving on the Cross. "Father forgive them they know not what they do." Love hurts it doesn't alway feel good. Jesus told St. Faustina, "The greater the sinner, the greater the right they have to my mercy." Remeber Jesus said, "I came for sinners not the rightous." We are to imate Christ in everything, so if he sought out to heal, help, LOVE,and forgive sinners with open arms, then it is for us as well to do. Because He is the "WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE.." Is it easy to do? No! But that's why He comes to us in the Holy Eucharist, so that we can recieve His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, to become one with Him. To "Abide in Him." He is our DAILY BREAD! If you come to him often he will change you (us) into him. You see not like the other foods that you and I eat, we turn them into ourselves. Our body puts it were it needs it and it becomes a part of us our flesh. But this Precious Heavenly Food is different, it does the opposet. It changes us into Him! LOVE ITSELF, MERCY ITSELF! Jericho923
AMEN i am curious why this quastion on forgiveness was raised though, since the answer is pretty clear from the teaching of Christ and the His Mystical Body, the Church. is there anything specific that is not clear? Livin_the_MASS
NO! Just meditate on the face and life of Christ through the Holy Rosary. You will find Love and Mercy itself manifested through the life of Christ in the Gospels!
