Please consider taking a weekend to visit this community! They are absolutely wonderful, and I feel that the Holy Spirit is working through them in amazing ways, as they are beginning a new Formation house here in the U.S.A. (originally a Polish community.)

I love their short capelets. So elegant!
</shallow>

(And yes, as a Dominican aspirant it's very bad of me that I don't know what they're actually called :) )

They are called "capes." I love what you called them, though! "Capelets" sounds more appropriate in this case. I love this community's "take" on the Dominican habit....so very elegant and beautiful! (As you pointed out... :topsy:)

Please spread the word! If you know anyone who is able to go, tell them to contact Sr. Margaret. I find this very exciting! Their community is just awesome! I wish every girl who is attracted to religious life could go to their discernment retreat!

And prayers for you as an aspirant! How very exciting for you!

God bless!

Capes. Capes. Yes. Remember, VA, remember.

Wasn't there a set of wonderful videos on this community? We should dig them up and re-post them, they're a great advertisement for the sisters!

And we're instructed that the habit should be "simple and becoming". They really have that down!

I won't hijack the thread about the whole entering stuff... only to say that graduation is too. far. away. June! That's nine months! Aaah! I want to go NOW!

Er. 'xcuse me. :)

I just wanted to bump this up. We only have three more weeks before the retreat, and I'm hoping some of you in the area will like to go.

And for those of you who cannot, but would like to get to know the community better, Sr. Margaret is great at talking to young women about discernment and the journey. She is NOT at all "pushy" or doesn't place any sort of pressure on any one. She loves to listen and offer advice to you and hopefully help you along the way, regardless of what your vocation is. She's all for helping God help you find the path to your mission in life...

She's great like that! :))

Such a beautiful community!
I believe the age group is highschool to late 30's early 40's. They have a "limit" of 18-35 to enter, but they make exceptions (like most communities do.) If they recognize a young lady (or older lady) is being called to religious life, they take it from there, regardless of her age.

Awesome videoes. I know Sarah Bauer and Sr. Margaret but never knew of the connection between the two. Very cool. I hope this helps spread the word about these good sisters.

While I haven't specifically discerned with this community, I know Sr. Margaret through my Dominican circle of friends and through my friend Karen (who is a postulant with this community). She is very genuine when speaking with discerning women (and men!). She has both the ability to listen and to question and challenge. I appreciated that from her.

I wish I could go!!! I don't think my parents will be willing to drive all the way to Illinois on friday though. Thank you for telling us about this-I'll keep it in mind for the future.
