dairygirl4u2c
that link about the treasure etc is very true. i come to find more and more, that congress has no idea for the most part what it's doing. they're often no more versed in econ theory, health care etc, than someone who studies from afar on the interenet, a lot of people in this forum even prolly know more. that's why the executive branch often has to fix things. that's why the supreme court said at first that the executive doing things was unconstitutional, but then the court changed its mind. that's why good policy can't be found. they've lost the policy in politics. they've lost the nuance. not that they ever had it very well to begin with. it's pure politics mostly in the worst sense of the word. a lot of times it just has to do with the sheer size of congress. congress needs dispute resolution specialists, consensus builders. that's why bush jr smells of elderberries so bad, he's not a consensus builder by any means. he's not nuanced. he smells of elderberries where it matters. but the executive branch is often skewed and messed up. maybe we need ot change our system. our representatives really aren't knowledgable as the theory of representative democracy suggests. we should just have ocngress, people who we can relate to and have our values but mostly are not knowledgable enough, elect the real decision makers. that's of course taking a step that we shouldn't have to do. the elective should be knowledgable, but i'm just taking reality for what it is. if a politician tries to be nuance or specific, it's too easy to alienate people. so the good often are thrown out by our very population. that's why you can have bad politicans just as easy as good ones. it's better to be vague and let people project their ideas onto you. to let repub or dem stick with their party cause it's all so vague as to know what is stood for. just some rants Edited September 18, 2008 by dairygirl4u2c

FSM Sister
Anyone who buys into the theory that raising taxes for the rich but cutting taxes for 95% is 1. possible, or 2. going to put more money in their pocket, is living in la la land. Here's what happens when you "cut" taxes. Rich people are going to stay rich. If you tax them more, they will recover their temporary losses by doing - gues what - RAISING PRICES. Who do you think owns businesses? Poor people? Stop fooling yourselves. Say you're the guy in the $200,000 annual income bracket, subject to Obama's higher taxes. What do you do for a living? You either own real estate, operate a business, work in a corporation, or work on Wall Street. If your taxes go up, you raise the cost of the service you provide to cover your losses. Who ends up paying? The consumer... you know, the one that pays $1100 less in taxes per year, but needs to spend $1500 per year more on gas, groceries, medical care, insurance, clothes, utilities, and housing. Unless he is going in to the counterfiet money business, Obama can't make money appear out of nowhere. The money has to come from somewhere. It will come from us. All these people that have been shelling out contribution money to Obama are going to come looking for a reward for thier investment. What did he promise to do for them in return? (MAKE MORE MONEY FOR THEM!) Pray that God will have mercy on us, and that McCain/Palin win the election.
