"You want to be a Sister???????...WHAT....HAPPENED....TO.....YOU?????????!!!!! Or better yet, what happened to James? Robert? Shane? Carlos? Epi? Augustine? And all those other guys you dated and dreamed of marrying some day??? What happened to the huge family you wanted? The house in the country with the little white picket fence you pictured? You want to give up everything...and live in poverty, chastity and obedience??? You want to be a Sister??? SERIOUSLY????" :bigshock:

Wow! You are still alive. How did you manage that?
No way, you had to have spent some time in prison.
You go to Mass every day? You poor deluded, brainwashed thing, what happened to you? Is there anything I can do for you, front you some pot or something? I scored some great chocolate mesc if you really want a spiritual experience. No? Okay. Whatever man. Good luck. By the way, Dr. Main is still a total schmuck of a Vice Principal. We zip stripped his sports car the other day. :lol_roll:

i actually don't know if my 16 yr old self would be satisfied with where i am today. but five and a half years later, i'm satisfied. i think that's a good thing.

That's an interesting reflection. Is the most important change in maturation that we reach the goals we'd set for ourselves or that our goals become more genuinely good?

i dont know that my goals or intentions became necessarily "good" (as it implies coming from something "bad" or of similar quality), but rather they became more pure. more attainable. more in sync with what i think God wants from me and not what i want for me.

i think maturation implies the end result of the process of moving outside of what others want for us or think we should want for ourselves, and truly moving into who we are as individuals through God in our lives.

when i was sixteen i was thinking about growing up wealthy, having an awesome career and a fancy house. do i still want those things? well, i'd love to have money. and i still design my "dream home". but i'm okay with where i am today. and that's the most important thing.

this is an awesome prayer (below) that i really love and it really embodies what i think we should all strive for.
Dear God, I spend so much time reliving yesterday or anticipating tomorrow that I lose sight of the only time that is really mine - the present moment. You give me today, one moment at a time. That's all I have, all I ever will have.

Give me the faith that knows that each moment contains exactly what is best for me.

Give me the hope that trusts you enough to forget past failures and future trials.

Give me the love that makes each moment an anticipation of living forever with you.
i don't know what 16-yr-old me would have thought or said. but i know what i say today. and today i say, "life is beautiful."

(which is why i think i probably would have responded initially with one of the three things i mentioned first)

SERIOUSLY, WHO IS SCOTT HAHN? AND WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO MAKE MOM AND DAD INVEST IN OIL UNTIL SUMMER OF 2008 AND SOME YOUNG UPSTART COMPANY I'VE JUST HEARD OF CALLED GOOGLE?

Oh...and avoid *name of contractor who screwed us over*, why? Oh...wow...gotcha. Maybe you're not all that bad man. Maybe you're not all that bad...hey, how's this Afghanistan invasion thing end? What do you mean Iraq...what do you mean we're still in Afghanistan? Dude...seriously, next thing you'll say is that we're pro-life now. Or...wait, what do you mean we are?

Dude...seriously...what have you done to our plans of money, power, and dying single, alone, and regretting our lifetime spent on nothing but material things?

"Music and physics, huh? I see you ended up in a cop-out major after all. Wait you're playing a what? Oh. Well...huh. I guess it's okay then."
