Google Remembers 9/11 By Doing Nothing

I'm not bothered by it at all. Sometimes a moment of silence is a more fitting reminder than a kitschy logo enhancement. That is more fitting for a celebration than a memorial.

Besides, it's not as though we have some sort of positive visual image associated with 9-11. The visual in my head associated with 9-11 is not one I'd want to see on the google homepage.
Again Yahoo, Ask.com, AltaVista, etc. don't have anything on their main search screens either. So it's not like Google is the only one not doing anything.
That's true. :birds:

I think google did the right thing. I mean, can you imagine if google had turned the two O's into the twin towers with a plane flying into them? People would have been OUTRAGED at the insensitivity.

Agreed. Like SpareTime said, I'd be outraged if I saw the Os as Twin Towers being hit. I can't think of a respectful image at all.

Does Google do anything for Sinterklaas?

I don't recall google ever doing anything for all the people killed in the troubles. I don't think they had anything for the anniversary of the Omagh bomb, but so what? It's not really their job.

Um, how about this:

I know, I know, we've established that Google isn't required to do anything about it anyway, so at this point I'm only posting this for the sake of argument. :D
Well, (this is no excuse for 9/11), but maybe the other ones are because Google is a worldwide engine, and those holidays are American?
They have specially designed home pages for users from different countries. Different users from around the world see different content.

Nice that they had a "lights out" page for a man-made global warming activist day. But nothing for 9/11.
