prose
Well, (this is no excuse for 9/11), but maybe the other ones are because Google is a worldwide engine, and those holidays are American?

Selah
I like what a commenter said: They had a supercollider image this week, but nothing for 9/11. Just stupid.
StColette
I'm not particularly bothered by this. I don't expect every business or corporation to do something in honor of 9/11. If people are that sensitive to Google not doing something in honor of 9/11 then they should have an issue with Yahoo as well because they aren't displaying anything either. I've done some looking through popular search engines and the only one with any mention of Sept 11th is dogpile
puellapaschalis
I'm not sure that Martin Luther King Day is anything other than USAn.
Winchester
They might feel funny about doing something for that. It's sort of a touchy subject.

And I did a search about Google logo and Veterans Day. They did something that day. The had the red poppy flowers as one of the o's. The red poppies actually bloomed across many of the battlefields during WWI, which is why the salvation army uses the red poppy as a symbol around Veterans day. pan!c139
They should still do something at least a little bit in remembrance - they look like they're the only ones who don't care.

I didn't realize what day it was until I saw this thread. A little compassion folks before we start jumping to conclusions that we may regret. I don't think Google not putting something for 9/11 on their logo is going do any harm or any good. It's not up to Google to remind us of today it's up to us to remember.
