Lounge Daddy
Wow. Obama is just like Jesus. Palin is like that man who handed Jesus over to be crucified and washed his hands of the whole thing. Unhinged. Btw, these statements were made by Rep. Steve Cohen on the House floor. This is the kind of "work" that the do nothing Congress is doing when they are not hauling baseball commissioners out to Capitol Hill for questioning, and making repeated "symbolic votes." From the FOX News article:
Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen riled Republicans Wednesday after he compared Barack Obama to Jesus Christ and suggested Sarah Palin is akin to Pontius Pilate. The Tennessee Democrat, who supports Obama, was on the House floor giving a one-minute speech when he offered the comparisons. “If you want change, you want the Democratic Party,” Cohen said. “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

CatherineM
What the heck is a community organizer anyway? I mean do you get a pay check, or are you working for grant money, or is it strictly volunteer? I'm assuming it doesn't mean that you are re-arranging where to put trash cans in the neighborhood. His "community organizing" was time spent working for The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Google "Obama acorn" and quite a lot comes up. The organization is corrupt, from the far left, and repeatedly in trouble for voting fraud and scams involving signature collecting drives. Discover the Networks has a nice bit of info compiled on ACORN. CBS News has an article about Obama's involvement with ACORN (among many other things) written by Stanley Kurtz. Michelle Malkin has a great article titled "The ACORN That Obama Knows." Lounge Daddy
Btw - my copy of the Bible doesn't have anything about Jesus spending his 3 years of public ministry involved with fraudulent voter registration, vote-rigging, voter intimidation, and vote-for-pay scams. Do the Democrats in Washington have a different translation?
Maximilianus
To be fair there are probably some folks who consider themselves or are tasked with being community organizers that actually advocate and work for the benefit of their communties...it's just that Obama doesn't seem to be one of those, plus being a communty organizer doesn't quite match up with being a mayor and governor. It's just too bad that Obama's so-called community organizing was nothing more than working with grass-roots level criminal activity and political fraud. There are wonderful community organizers in my own neighborhood. In my neighborhood we have a group called SWAN: "South West Area Neighbors." They are truly wonderful, and they work very closely with the local law enforcement, as well as a Christian ministry called Other Way Ministries. They are good people and they do very good work in our community. But I would not ever say that their work qualified any of them to be president of the United States of America. lol
cmotherofpirl
I spent 3 years in VISTA-Peace Corp as a community organizer, trained in the Saul Alinsky style by a catholic priest. We intimidated the local politicians, organized community groups, cleaned up the neighborhoods, bought street lights and a new fire truck with community block grants, cleaned up a major hazardous site, and did referrals for drug and alcohol programs. We had absolutely nothing to do with voter registration etc and steered clear partisan politics. It was the hardest best job I ever had.
