Finally had a real conversation with tgoldson tonight - she and hte dog are safe and well in Sugar Land - they have power and water, and she hopes to have cable tomorrow, which would mean she'd be back online. No word yet on when she will be able to just go check on her place in Galveston...

The remnants of Ike followed another front this weekend and northern Illinois is getting hit with serious flooding. I'm OK, although I did have a difficult time getting back from Mass yesterday, as the river about a mile and a half west of me is flooding and those suburbs are hit.

45 South is Closed at some point (I think FM 519 is what I heard on the radio). They had some worker call in and he says its a terrible mess there. Boats, cars, debris, pieces of homes all over I45.

Glad she has power! I made it into my apartment this morning (at UH) and its a mess here. Big trees down everywhere. Fuel is becoming a real problem also.

I'm so glad to hear the most phatmassers fared pretty well.

I just got online from an office.

Galveston is now allowing residents down for "look and see" visits during daylight! I hope to go tomorrow. One friend drove by my place and said that it looks okay from the outside.

Thanks for all the prayers!

I know this is an old thread, Isilzha, but I thought you would find this "Gene & Jude's" picture I found interesting:
