ardillacid
The Obama link was in response to another poster. This link specifically addresses some of the claims being made by various political camps about Palin, such as her command of the AK Guard: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_.../cvn_fact_check. It's relevant to this particular topic. edited for incomplete link
Sorry, I can't seem to find where anyone brought up earmarks in this topic... Lounge Daddy
Yet more: "What command experience does Palin have as head of the Alaska National Guard? ...
Palin isn't running for President. McCain is. At any rate, Palin is familiar with national security as it relates to her Executive Office. And she does have a full time military commander present, as the referenced op/ed piece states--just as the President has full time military advisers. Palin has more executive experience and has more direct familiarity with national security than Obama. McCain, who is actually running for Commander and Chief of our Armed Forces, absolutely has more experience in everything than Obama. Besides, with Palin as VP, she will immediately begin receiving military briefings and everything else that is necessary by various full-time professionals on a regular basis. The best thing that McCain and Palin have is character. For example, they love their country all the time and always have. They love their families, and they love life. McCain put his love of country to practice, and Palin has put her love for life into practice--both would do whatever it takes and whatever is right to defend both country and life. Sadly, the same cannot be said of Obama or Biden.
