M.SIGGA
Confession because this is what I was taught it was called when I made my first one plus the "R" word to way too long.
the_rev
But the R one, is so long because our sins are so numerous!
crazycatholicgirl
Confession sounds more humbling. You have to confess your sins
the_rev
I didn't vote for Reconciliation! Who did! We have to reconcile ourselves to God.
IXpenguin21
it can also be called "pennance" hehehe they can all be different parts of the same thing as well... the confession is you telling your sins, the penance is what you're given so you can make the "r-word" possible! Iacobus
Reconciliation. The scarement is about more than just confessing your sins but also inculdes the penace that you are given.

Thy Geekdom Come
I like Reconciliation because its meaning is poetic. It essentially means "to come face to face with God again", but the reason it is poetic is because the literal meaning is from re-again, con-with (or together), cilia-eyelashes (literally "little hairs"). So, literally, it means to bring your eyelashes together with God's, that is, to look Him in the eyes, which is a thing only friends have a right to do. Confessionator741
I feel that reconsiliation is what is done in confession. I think that you must confess your sins in certain instances for them to be reconciled. I do by the way LOVE your thinking about the eyelashes thing...WHOA

Rebirth flame
i do not prefer one term over another. I just like to have my soul wiped clean and to recieve the graces of the sacrament. i think the word "confession" is cool, because you're tellin someone (God) all of the awful things you've done so that He may forgive us, no matter how unworthy we may be. "reconciliation" is cool because it means to be reconciled with God, to have our relationship that was tattered or out-of-communion with one another fixed. i don't think the name matters as much as what comes out, which is a clean and pure heart if you are truly repentant.
