she_who_is_not
As one of those young whippersnappers, (just barely over 25), and working on a graduate degree, I say thank you for sharing your wisdom and putting up with our ignorance and arrogance. I may be an southern law student but I doubt we are much different from your canadian theologians.

McDonalds serves polar bear burgers. Basically everything north of the American border is Arctic. Horizon and show in all directions. We have a couple roads, but we never plough them. We just use snowmobiles. Or horse drawn sleighs when we can't afford snowmobiles. Speaking of which, I need to go scrape the ice off the outhouse door. If I leave it too long in weather like this (-50 celcius tonight) I probably won't be able to get in tomorrow morning. Oh yea... then there's the real Canada. Oops, that wasn't it. We're not much different. We just REALLY like hockey. Also we spell things better. Like cheque.

This is what happens when lawyers retire, they move to Canada and study theology.
knightec
I have been out of school for nearly 10 yrs and finally went back this semester. I hope that when I was a freshman way back then, that I didnt look as naive as some of these young kids.
Autumn Dusk
Know what makes me unique? Being the only person in my close family that I can name who doesn't wear glasses. Except for one that had laser eye surgery, but he doesn't count.
just how "blind" I am and that I still manage to see is a miracle. I like the contacts that I can leave in during the night, becuase I also have a hearing problem. So there has been times when I could only see the difference between light and dark (movement and shadows) and understand virtually nothing of what I was hearing. I like it in a wierd way becuase it makes me see the world in a special way.
missionseeker
i don't need bifocals because I'm so nearsighted that I can't be farsighted....literally. to read a piece of paper without my glasses I have to hold it up to my eye
I am nearsighted. my problem is that I have a bad focusing system. So reading is difficult without either bifocals or reading glasses.

CatherineM
I'm so near sighted that I have to wear prescription swim goggles to water aerobics. First off, I wouldn't be able to see the teacher. Second, I would have to find the pool by sense of smell. Lastly, there was an incident at the YMCA in St. Pete where I ended up in the men's locker room by mistake. The gentlemen in there were quite displeased with me, but I just yelled back at them that if I had been able to see well enough to have seen their "business," then I wouldn't have ended up in the wrong bathroom in the first place. Now that's a funny mental picture. You squinting as you yell at some naked guy who's beet red and yelling back at you... ...in my mental picture you're wearing a green sweater like the dog in your display picture. Also you're fairly young. That's weird, you look about 23. I need to mentally age you I guess. Edited September 7, 2008 by Nihil Obstat
CatherineM
I was definitely squinting. I think they all had towels on, but who knows? In St. Pete, the median age of guys in the locker room is around 75, so I'm pretty sure I'm grateful to have been without my glasses. I am considerable older than 23. Actually times 2. I posted pictures of what I look like on the lame board picture thing because we were talking about disco shirts or something. Here's the LINK. By age. I am a real person, I just have the personality of a basset.

Wow, looking at those pictures... Your picture at 23 is almost exactly what I was thinking. Crazy. Oh wow... that is exactly what my mental picture was, plus the basset hound's green sweater. I feel psychic.
