Lounge Daddy
From Redstate.org:
The Politico has received an opposition research file from the Alaska Democrats. You can read it in PDF here. In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin's social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses. Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele's social security number to get his credit record. It is atrocious that the Democrats would not only seek out Sarah Palin's social security number, but release it in opposition research to the press. We need to know who did this. We also need to know what happened. We also need to know if it was used to bolster the Democrats' opposition research. When it happened to Michael Steele, it turns out the Democrats knew about it and did nothing. They cannot not take action now.

Lounge Daddy
What I find interesting is that the Democrats released this to the msm, and the msm said nothing about this at all. It took a major conservative blog to find this out, get a hold of the proof, and then cry "foul." I think that this is what Fred Thompson means when he speaks of the left-leaning msm being in "panic mode." Btw--do you think that we will hear these stories if the so-called 'fairness doctrine' passes next year? Not a chance. And it will be aimed at the Internet and talk radio. CatherineM
They could have gotten it from a temp secretary at a hospital or dentist where she had work done back in the day when your SS# was written on everything.
Mercy me
You would be surprise by how easy it is to get. We use it on so many things, loan apps, medical forms, job apps, payroll papers just to name a few. All you need is a one breach at any stop for one of those apps. It will be very hard to track down where the breach happened but it will be easy to track down if they pulled a credit report. Just ask the staffer from Sen. Schumer's office who is in jail for pulling Michael Steele's credit report. They need to prosecute.

dUSt
It's a lot easier than one might think to get people's social security numbers. Debt collectors, for example, can get people's SS number's by simply cross referencing known addresses, telephone numbers, license plate numbers, etc.
