frozencell
The other night I was watching Fox News and there was a story of a man in Baton Rouge.......suing the game of chess!!!! He said that the idea of the white pieces making the first move of the game was a racist thing and that it automatically put blacks on the defensive. He suggested that they change the pieces to one of two things: 1) All the pieces being the same color. 2) All the pieces all different colors. He also proposed that they use an algebraic equation that he made up to determine who goes first in a game of chess. This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life! I am very against racism, but I think that there are more important issues that need to be taken care of first, mainly because they are besed in reality and have substance in the racial problems. My advice: Leave stupid garbage like this alone and work on something that's going to get you somewhere. dUSt
Chess is the reason I was scared of black people as a kid.
marielapin
What about the game Othello? Black always goes first. Maybe we should sue that game saying it puts whites on the defensive. Sheesh. Maybe we should sue Shakespeare for writing such a racist play as Othello since it obviously inspired the name of this game.
dUSt
We should also sue the game of cards for having the ace be higher than the king--that's totally prejudice against proper monarchies.
marielapin
Let's be fair here. We shouldn't forget Checkers. The red player moves before the black player. That also clearly puts the black player at the defensive. Something must be done about all these racist games! After all they are the reason this country is falling apart! PedroX
who does one sue for the game of Chess? The game has its origins in ancient Egypt. But, please tell me who to sue. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes... peace...
frozencell
I missed that part! I'm not sure. I was wondering that myself. I guess you could sue the many companies who manufacture chass boards and the like.
Kilroy the Ninja
Perhaps we should look to the originators of dice, I mean, afterall, in your most basic dice set the white all but encompasses the poor little black dots who struggle against the odds to force themselves to the surface to be seen. NewFaithMan21
Im sorry but anyone who complains about the color of game peices, and claims them to be racist really needs a life. If we did that whos to say that people wouldnt be complaining about cereal. Cocca Puffs would be a black cereal and Frosted Flakes would be a white cereal. People would complain the the black cereal makes you go crazy, "You'll go crazy for coco Puffs!" but the white Cereal doesn't. The White Cereals, Just Great! And Olives Why are the black olives in a can but the green olives are in a jar. Why they gotta lock those black olives up? And brown rice, its just rice, but they call it Wild Rice! White Rice isn't Wild Rice, its just rice. All Im saying is its pretty dumb to think carp like this. How far have we sunken if we have to resort to this stuff for racial discrimination?
