No matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed. CatherineM
I had an great aunt who was a suffragette at the turn of the century. She was a haberdasher. I have her gold pocket watch that was worn as a pendant as a badge of honor. See, women who never left the house didn't need a watch because they'd have a grandfather clock or wall clock at home to tell them them the time. My Great-grandfather was NYPD, and kept having to bail her out after a demonstration. Those early feminists were protesting to vote, to be allowed to enter buildings or take certain jobs. They weren't about killing children. I agree with the post that "Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women."
desertwoman
Yep they sure were. That's why I find it funny that modern feminists believe that if you are not pro abortion, then you are not a feminist.
Vincent Vega
I do not align with the modern feminist movement at all, but I do love Miss Suzy B.

Madame Vengier
Those quotes are awesome! Those were real feminists. They didn't want to hand babies to nannies or take the jobs that men do or burn their bras. They just wanted equal rights as human beings and to be valued as women. We are a looooooooooong way from this original feminism.
desertwoman
word. We are very far away from true feminism, and you won't hear about it at a NOW meeting.

StColette
I believe Pope John Paul II actually mentions some of these women in some of the writings/speeches he did about real Feminism.
geetarplayer
My sister did a paper on this, and she noted that "first-wave" feminists were all very pro-life. They understood that abortion would only hurt women, not liberate or empower them.

And it is the case, in most abortions, that the women are very hurt by what they've done and aren't quite ever themselves again.
