Paladin D
I've been raised to believe that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed due to the people being homosexual (and other sins). Is it correct to say that one of the reasons why they were killed wasn't because they were homosexual? Just that they slept with the same-sex, and other immoral acts? Dave
Well, their commission of homosexual acts and similar stuff was the main thing, but it had nothing to do with people having homosexual orientations.
Jake Huether
Exactly. God was enraged at the sinners because of their sin, not because of their inclinations. Had they been homosexual and chaste, God would have been delighted.
Paladin D
Thanks, I had a feeling it was that.
IXpenguin21
had they been unchaste heterosexuals/heterosexual sodomites, perhaps God would've done same. i feel that this gives us prime example of 'crime and punnishment' in the beginning of genesis. in that time, there weren't many laws or comands given to man other than be fruitful and multiply, which is the exact oposite of what a homosexual act allows for. God Conquers
haha! I saw a homosexual activist once argue that it wasn't because of homosexuality but INHOSPITALILITY!

cmotherofpirl
Actaully I think there were 4 towns destroyed , not two.
PedroX
God Conquers, The inhospitality belief has a small factual basis. Shhh! Calm down, and walk through this with me. Lot and his family were visiting in one of the towns (I'm at work and don't have my Bible). One night an angry mob surrounded the house where they were staying, demanding that Lot send out his sons so they could rape them. Now, this was the epitome of inhospitableness, and a perversion of the culture that existed. If we stop examing the story there, we might come to the conclusion that in fact inhospitality was such a great sin in God's eyes that he destroyed two whole cities and turned Lot's wife into a pillar of salt. But, we can find no other evidence of God destroying anything due to inhospitality. Although, God does give very explicity commands to be hospitable, especially to immigrants. You are now returned to your regularly scheduled broadcast. peace...
the lumberjack
whooo! thanks for that.... I know I needed a good STREEEEEEEEEEETCH! hahahaha....j/k well, not about the stretch, but....errrr....ummmm....yeah.
PedroX
Lumberjack, Don't worry, I was simply explaining how the hospitality conclusion was reached. I do not in any way subscribe to it. Sodom and Gommorah were described as being exceedingly wicked and this depravity reached its height in the attempted rape of Lot's family. However, it is interesting to show the lengths that some will go to in stretching scripture to suit their agenda. peace...
