Aloysius
yeah, im just sayin 8 is NOT a good age to be confirmed. baptize 'em as fast as you can, wait till they want to claim their faith to confirm them. at least that's the way i think it should be done.
Matt's niece is getting Confirmed this April, she's in the 3rd grade. I'm her sponsor. hehe Without the proper classes I would agree with you, but I know in the parish my in-laws attend they have the kids in Confirmation classes for months ahead of time, so even though they are young I believe that they are well prepared for the Sacrament. hermit
Okay, and while we are on this topic... what does CCD stand for?
Its either Catholic Christian Doctrine or Catholic Church Doctrine and if its used with the word class as in CCD class its the continued study of that Doctrine...If I'm not mistaken, these are classes that would be taken in areas where there is not a Catholic High School, or at least that was the case when I was a kid... God Bless... hermit
BLAZEr
CCD actually stands for: Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. Basically a Confraternity is an association, a school, a meeting.
Azriel
why was I under the assumption that first communion comes before confirmation?
aByzantineCatholic
IN the Eastern Lung of the Catholic Church, infants recieve confirmation and I don't see where there is a conflict. I do however understnad our western tradition of the age of reason, which I also don't see where there is a conflict.
JFYI, we also receive Confirmation when we are infants.
