MissyP89
Way to go, Dom. That's something we should all try to emulate. As for position...as you probably understand, most people don't expect me to receive on the hand. But I tend to just keep my hands to my sides. Maybe this would prevent people from thinking he wanted a blessing? I stopped going to EMHC's, too. After bad experiences with people's fingers smelling like smoke, and getting fingers practically in my mouth, and almost having Him dropped, I stick to my priests who have been giving me Communion forever and don't make a big deal out of getting too close. Anyhow, thanks so much for the encouragement of your brother's faith.

prose
keep in mind that in many places, coming up with your arms crossed is an indication that you are unable to receive communion (for whatever reason), but would like to receive a blessing. It isn't necessarily that it is a "big deal", just that the EMs were trained this way. Nothing to take offense to.

He had them in a prayer-position against his chest, if I read the OP correctly.

He didn't have them in "X".
A friend of mine had exactly the same problem yesterday... with a deacon! She's currently working up the courage to talk to her priest about it.
My *other* brother had that happen to him with a deacon two weeks before (in OK) but my mother was behind him and told the deacon that he recieved. mortify
He just looked at me, opened his hands and said "Look at them...I couldn't do THAT" as I looked at his hands, I saw that they were typical little boy hands: rough, cut and scratched, calloused and peeling, just from being a boy and playing outside and planting a garden and swinging on monkeybars. But as I looked, I was deeply touched by his care. He's a nine year old boy and "careful" is not necessarily a widely used functtion for him. But I realized that because of his great care, love, fatih, and devotion- his hands were probably much more fitting to recieve Christ's body than mine that were clean and soft.
God bless your son, he has greater faith than most members of the Church. jeffpugh
Dom. is awesome. Glad someone that young understands something of our Eucharistic Lord! What a wonderful witness for all of us!
Deb
God bless your little brother. I hope it was just a misunderstanding and not on purpose. So many people in my church receiving in the mouth so the EMT's are ready for that. I only go to my Priest and I am usually the first or second one up, he just automatically knows. Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ the way it was worded i thought he went up with his arms in a "X" position on his chest - which would denote blessing. i hope too that it was just a misunderstanding.
MissScripture
oops
Well, she does call them "her boys" sometimes. Just thought I'd clarify that it is her lil bro, though.
Norseman82
My first thought as well was that the EEM probably mistook it for a request for a blessing.
missionseeker
well... then it's bad training for the EME. I mean, his hands were not crossed over his chest- they were as they should have been. The EME just didn't know the difference.
