geetarplayer
Don't worry. My mom is very involved with our parish and she tries to tell me it's okay to receive communion when I'm in a state of mortal sin. I think she doesn't want to think about her children sinning. LOL When I was first interested in Catholicism, my friend took me to Adoration for the first time. I had no idea what it was. So she explained it to me like this, "It's like a hot date with Jesus!" Confession is really beautiful, whether in mortal sin or just venial it is an expression of love between God and Man which is mutual. YOu do not have to be in any serious sin to go to confession, just like you do not have to be in trouble with your girlfriend to buy her flowers. Do not think of it as an admission of guilt but an expression of love. YOu are trying to be a better person, the person that God wants you to be, and God is trying to help you. The confessional booth is the place where you take the hand that God is offering to you to lift you up, to give you the strength to be better, to be truly free. But it felt very awkward trying to repeat, "No, I need to go to Confession." I almost felt like saying, "What, shall I confess to you then?" Gah. Balthazor
Your stories really highlight the misconception that people have about confession. It is not about what you did wrong so much as your intention to do better!
Vincent Vega
So today: I went to confession. Same cycle, but not as much of the anticipation, still the good feeling. So I left with honest resolve to sin no more, of course. So we were supposed to go to Carrabba's to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ended up going to Hooters. It was a rough hour, but St. Michael and my guardian angel must have been doing some serious fighting, cause I made it. That was the first time I'd been to Hooters. I don't intend to go back. Crappy food; disgusting atmosphere.

Balthazor
Um.... I think it means that it is easily accessable for him, where as the rest of us have to travel to get to confession and manage a schedule around a confession time... so it is more difficult. I had to fight every urge in me to just turn around and walk out of the church when I went for the first time in years, after NEVER confessing honestly in my life. It was like confessing for the very first time. I'm going tomorrow too, HCF--I'll say a prayer for you, if you will for me--I still get the jitters![/quote] Who else or what else would it be other than that wretched beast who only wishes to see the destruction of our souls? He makes us focus on our own sins and how embarrased we are rather on how much we have hurt our Dear Lord. He is smart and continues to take our minds off God....especially when we sin. Is it not true that when we sin, we feel horrible? We think of how horrible we are and that's why we continue to put off going to confession. Our main focus must be on GOD and how much we offend Him. May all that we do be for His greater glory and the greater sanctification of our souls! God love you!
