HisChildForever
Okay, so I am going to Confession tomorrow before work. The last time I went to Confession was back in March, and before that...well, let's just say it was very long ago. Anyway, I want to get into the swing of making Confession frequently. No one in my family goes to Confession or anything, I guess you could call them lukewarm. Anyway, I did have a serious sin to Confess last time, but (as I said) I just want to go, plus the semester is starting soon and I want to start school off on the right foot. So what should I say to my parents when they get surprised that I'm going? Not that I should really care, but I don't want them thinking that I've done something awful (you know how many Catholics think you should only go to Confession if you do something super sinful). geetarplayer
Nobody's perfect. The pope goes to confession every day!
MIKolbe
Ask them to come with.

CatherineM
It's probably easy for the Pope to go everyday, he's surrounded by priests.
TeresaBenedicta
Tell them what you told us. That the semester is starting soon and you want to start off on the right foot. That Confession takes care of even "small" sins and gives us special grace to persevere and grow as Christians. That way you're being truthful and perhaps even setting a seed for themselves. MissyP89
My parents tend to get very curious when I go to confession. If they ask what you've done, tell them respectfully it's between you, the priest, and God who works through him. And also tell them that you always feel comforted having the reassurance of forgiveness, no matter how small your sins may be. Hope that helps! Luckily when I converted, I already had my liscense. I don't know what I would've done before then.
MissScripture
Why do you have to tell your parents you're going to confession?
BG45
Why do you have to tell your parents you're going to confession?
Because she still lives with them perhaps? Needs a ride? Would feel like she's lying of omission by not telling them? Just my guesses. Not trying to speak for HCF. Personally, I feel horrible in one sense going to Adoration, because it is such a "hidden" thing for me to do with not telling people.

HisChildForever
Now I'm less concerned with my parents...every so often I'll remember I'm going tomorrow, and one minute I'm chill about it, the other I'm trying to convince myself not to go. What the heck.
Lioness For Christ
Don't worry, HCF, It's just the devil trying to get you from starting a good habit.. Blah.. I mean I can tell you I tend to get horribly nervous EVERY time before I go! (and even the priest told me there is no reason for that).. It's a battle ground.. just go!
