What are the best web sites for general articles about the history, customs, spirituality & so on of the Poor Clares? I got a nice letter about the Poor Clares of the Immaculate, and want to read more. I probably know more about Carmelites than Poor Clares, because they are so much more famous.

Greetings on St. Dominic Day!

This is a very thorough (and a bit overwhelming) link:
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/12251b.htm

I personally really enjoy this site, because it has so much good information on all the orders, but not to the point of swallowing one up in dates and names:
http://www.religious-vocation.com/differen...ous_orders.html

It is a wonderful new site, and I think I originally heard about it weeks back through a PhatMass post.

I hope this helps!

En Maria et Christo.

This is one of my favorite poor clare sites: Bethelehem Monastery. I think they have a very beautiful monastery.

There are a lot of different links on St. Clare here at the Franciscan Archive, http://www.franciscan-archive.org/matriarcha/index.html - including a link to the entire Rule of St. Clare in English, Italian and Latin, http://rilievo.poliba.it/bsc/bsc/st/cc/orm...cani/index.html

Read some of Mother Francis' works....books like A right to be merry is wonderful. It is a bit dated now, but has some wonderful stories in it about the Collentine Poor Clares. Mother Francis died a couple years ago, but her books live on

The book A Right to be Merry is an excellent description of the Poor Claire spirituality. It is also excellent for anyone who is trying to decide between cloistered contemplative or active. When I read it, I couldn't put it down. I knew contemplative was my calling.
