I mean, I even had a craving for Brussels sprouts at the end of my pregnancy, and I've always hated those.
I once tried squid. mommas_boy
I went out with a bunch of teachers the other day (OK, the other day for me is often a long time ago ... 2 years ago) to a Mexican restaurant. I asked one of the teachers to order for me, and get me something that I had never tried before. WARNING! The next part is not suitable for younger readers! So out comes a huge, whole fish. The scales and head were still on this thing. Then the teacher that ordered for me told me that the best part was the eyeballs. In retrospect, I realize now that the likelihood that he was playing with me is exceedingly high. But, yeah. I ate one eyeball. I didn't even bother to chew, I just threw it back there and swallowed. It was very overcooked and hard and went down like a jagged pill -- I could feel it go all the way down. :shudder:
Justin86
I had eel at Naritia once. Not bad. It's like the chicken of the sea, but it wasn't worth all the yen they made me pay. To the poster that ate squid: Squid is delicious. I love calamari.

I try to stay away from that stuff just because I'd rather not be sick. Sage Tea (nastiness in one cup ) One time, my grandma (God Rest her soul) told me that since I loved olives, I should try sardine ones. I hate fish...absolutely hate it. I like looking at them but not eating them. To me that is just plain gross. So I told her no thank you, I don't like fish. She said, aw, come on it is good, it doesn't taste bad. So I ate one. It tasted so gross. It was kinda slippery. Meg

HisChildForever
Well this probably doesn't compare to what everyone else posted, but - I assume everyone is familiar with Bertie Botts, the nasty jelly beans from the Harry Potter books which are on the shelves? On vacation I bought a similar version - however, each color (say green) has two flavors (booger or juicy pear). So when you pop a yellow one in your mouth, you're either gonna taste moldy coagulated milk or buttered popcorn. I had booger and spit it out, eech. I've also had Bertie Botts - got vomit and nearly vomitted myself.

Figured it should go in this thread. Though I just did a quick search and apparently it is pretty common. Oh, and I've also had "lengua de vaca" -- cow tongue. Very chewy and tender, like the softest steak that you've ever had, only better. I recommend it. Though having tastebuds on the meat that you eat can be a little unsettling at first; you begin to wonder if it can taste you.
Vincent Vega
I guess I didn't really give an answer before. I'd say the two most bizarre things I've eaten were lightly fried meal worms (pretty gross- crunchy on the outside and filled with some sort of salty liquid, and since I had braces at the time, I was picking exoskeleton out of my teeth for the rest of the day), and the other being pig-trotters with quail eggs. That was really interesting. The quail eggs weren't bad - sort of like chicken eggs, but smaller and with a lesser taste. The pig trotters, however...well, I'm still not sure what a "pig trotter" is. It was a dull brown, cylindrical thing, and the taste and texture were really unique. My best description was that it tasted like pork-flavoured jello, infused throughout with small breadcrumbs. My motto is "Try everything once". I can thankfully cross those two off my list. I've also tried many English/Scottish dishes which I understand some find not-so-nice, but I can say I've enjoyed them all (thank you, Anglo-Sax heritage!).
