I meant to reply to this the other day, because it reminded me to pray for my parish priest (who oversees 3 parishes!), as well as the other priests I know (and those I don't). Thanks, Deb. :))

I liked it. It's almost like I wish there was an option to reply with a blank message, to let the OP know you read and appreciated it, but don't have anything specific to comment on.

Original Post. Or Original Poster, depends on context.

Thank you. Now I understand the earlier post. I did not think to pose it as something really to respond to. I just wanted to remind people to pray for their priests. :saint:

Ok. Although your second post implied (at least to me; I don't know about anyone else) that you were indeed expecting replies.

We're getting people together over here to pray for one priest each every day for a year, a bit like Opus Angelorum. Brick by brick, to quote Fr. Z. completely out of context :)

oops. I didn't even remember putting the second post. (I am sleep deprived right now myself)

Our diocese puts out a calendar each month and the first day is your own priest and then each day has the name of one priest. They are in alphabetical order and each priest gets their own day and then it starts all over. I love it!

I think the office of Priest is such a difficult one and prayer is so powerful that if everyone prayed for all priests every day, the Lord would just magnify those efforts and pour his grace out upon them.

there is a new priest (new to the parish...not the priesthood) at my parish now and he is quite awesome. his name is Fr. Matt. he is John Wayne's grandson. before becoming a diocesan priest, he was a Camaldolese monk for 7 years. he was going to be a recluse in their order. His superiors thought he was supposed to work with people so he went to the seminary. he is a very holy man. we pray for him. he hung out with my brother last night too.

He sounds wonderful. I will add Fr. Matt to my list of priests by name. Have you read the rules and stuff for the Camaldolese monks? It is awesome. They have a hermitage in Big Sur that I would love to spend some time at. Lucky for you he is now a diocesan priest.

Now I will have to check out the Carthusians. Do all the monks hang at Big Sur? Here is the place I want to spend a week at. I think women can go.
