Roamin Catholic
Some shameless bragging from Sarah's visit to come see me... When she was here, we had a romatic dinner all cooked up by me. Sarah made a picture, we named our restraunt Bello Amore. Next was the actual dinner, I made Eggplant Parmesan which turned out absolutely perfect. We also had Wine with dinner, along with a side of Ratatouille which we really didnt need since the eggplant was filling enough. StColette
very cute Roamin Micah and I loved cooking together when we were engaged, and it continues to be something we do as a couple now that we are married. We plan on involving the kids in the kitchen as well. My nieces loved helping their aunt cook when she would babysit them.

Archaeology cat
Very nice, Roamin. We did it a lot when engaged and first married. It's more of a tag-team effort now, with him cooking 3 nights and me 4 (we both love to cook). When I'm cooking, I sometimes have Kieran in with me, and I give a running commentary of what I'm doing. Kinda feel like I'm in my own cooking show sometimes. My nephews help in the kitchen, and I let my little brother help me when I'm in.
Roamin Catholic
Thank you everyone for the kind comments, I was surprise how easy it was to cook. I expected it to be more effort
CatherineM
The last time I was pregnant my husband tried to cook for me because I was having trouble keeping anything on my stomach, and made a stir fry with cucumbers and sardines in it. I actually spit it across the room. He hasn't cooked for me since, Thank God. I don't even like him coming in the kitchen. It gives me flashbacks. let_go_let_God
Cucumbers and sardines? What posessed him to "create" that? My fiance and I both love too cook, but I'm such a kitchen hog that I need to be in control of the kitchen.... I usually only let him cut up stuff. God bless- LGLG

CatherineM
Yes, he was really trying to take care of me, poor thing. All I could keep down at the time was stale bread, and he was afraid I was going to get weak.

It's a struggle to let my kids help. I have to make a conscious effot to include them. It's so much easier to just do it myself! ("Get out of Mommy's way" is something I utter a lot when I am cooking. lol) Matt can really only cook minor things, but I love when he makes me breakfast. It makes me feel special. Barbarus
Wow, that looks delicious. Or delicioso. I am the cook in our relationship, which is fine by me. He can make pancakes, mac and coagulated milk, and frozen pizza. I make everything else. When I am pregnant I will aspire to make meals ahead and store them in the freezer just so I am not stuck eating macaroni for 3 months. On kids in the kitchen, one of his sisters-in-law has the coolest thing for her kids. It is called a "learning tower" (here is a link). Totally ingenious idea of allowing kids to be safely in the kitchen with parents. One, it brings the kid up to counter level, and two it keeps the kid in one place, which gives Mom or Dad a bit more peace of mind with regard to things like hot stoves, sharp knives, etc. It's adjustable as the kid gets older, too. Their kids absolutely love it. Edited August 2, 2008 by Barbarus
Ash Wednesday
My hubby to be cooked pierogis this evening. They were SOOOO GOOD... Okay well they were bought at the local Polish goods store and all he had to do was just cook them (baked, boil or fry). One of the perks of living in l'Europe. One of the problems my fiance has is that he just gets nervous around the stove. The poor thing panics if something isn't going right or if he doesn't know what he is doing (most of the time) sometimes I end up swooping in to save the day. I think he'd do fine but he just isn't comfortable with it. He's a real.... GUY about those things. Ha ha... but he can prepare a few little things. Not only can they save you a lot of time but they also end up saving money as well. When I was saving up money for graduate school I did that a lot. I would spend a Saturday afternoon baking a couple of casseroles or lasagnas and would freeze them -- it got me dinner and lunch for weeks and worked out quite nicely.
