Thy Geekdom Come

By the way, a lot of brides who don't want to scandalize will wear one garter for their husbands to find on the wedding night and another "ceremonial" one for tossing that's just stowed away somewhere at the reception hall or something.

dude I have no clue! I have yet to get married so I don't know if there is a time between the wedding and the reception where the bride goes off with her bridesmaids to do this stuff.. :lol_roll:

lol...I suppose there could be, but I think you'd have a hard time separating a lot of couples after they've taken their vows. :P

Jen and I actually went off by ourselves to rest for a little while before the reception...and the food for the reception hadn't arrived, but no one came to tell us so we could figure it out because they wanted us to have private time, lol.

The moral of the story: when you assign someone to pick up the food for the reception, make sure s/he knows all the details.

Ok, I didn't read the whole thread, but I had to chime in on the bouquet catcher having the garter placed on her leg.

My hubby and I have a odd sense of humor, and my 15 year old cousin caught the bouquet ... so we had her but the garter on the guy who caught it.

Yeah, we're odd like that. :)

Yup and that's where all the weddings I've been too have been. I enjoyed that tradition and hope that gets to be fulfilled soon.

Also what do you all think of the dollar dance?

God bless-

The dollar dance is a great idea! My cousins both did it. Honestly, I think it's helpful; a lot of couples will need all the financial help they can get. It also gives the bride and groom a chance to catch up with their guests. :)

My wife's garter was on her thigh, and I took it off with my teeth. And no, it was not scandalous. My brother caught it, and wore it as a head band for the rest of the night.

And we drunk a lot of beer.

Did you serve cake or irish whiskey to those who danced?

Yum whiskey! Our reception was actually dry because a couple of family members are recovered alcoholics, one of whom had only just begun going to AA. But we had the best cake ever! One of them was pineapple & white with real buttercream frosting. And the other was like they had just melted a chocolate bar, put it in cake form, and put icing on it.

Now I'm hungry again.

Mary-Kathryn

I have seen the garter placed as far up the leg as the bride could possibly get it. Then I've seen the groom get under the bride's gown and come out with it in his teeth. All in the presence of children, the minister/priest/pastor, in-laws and the elderly. What a cringe-inducing and very uncomfortable sight for everyone to behold.

Personally if I wanted to see what the bride had on underneath her gown I would just ask. But I **really** don't care to see what used to be ( at one time a garter was used to hold stockings up) part of people's underwear dangled about in public.

But this is just me. Call me a prude :D

ps. I just saw another reply and was NOT replying to dust. Our posts intersected.
