Confession Times

I'm curious as to how often most parishes offer the sacrament of reconciliation. My parish used to offer it for an hour on Wednesday evenings, an hour Saturday morning, and an hour Saturday afternoon. Our new pastor came in a few weeks ago, however, and cancelled the Wednesday evening confessions. So, now we're left to just Saturday.

Unfortunately, that leaves a lot of people unable to go-- myself included. I work all day on Saturdays, so there's no chance of me catching either set of confession times. And most of the parishes around only offer Saturdays as well. There's one Dominican parish about half an hour away that offers confessions everyday before noon Mass, which is nice, even though it's out of the way.

At university, we have confessions offered three times a week: an hour on Tuesday, on Thursday, and on Sunday. That was really nice.

I know there's always setting up an appointment or asking the priest if he can hear your confession before/after Mass. I just wish they offered it more often.

What about y'all? How often does your parish offer confessions?

30 minutes before mass on Sunday. Since that is when the choir is rehearsing, that would make it kind of hard to go, even if I could use our confessional. It's a small closet type, and I'm not physically capable of kneeling. I go downtown to the Basilica when I need to go.

St. Peter's in the Loop (DT Chicago) offers confessions 7:30 AM - 6PM M-F and noon to 4:30 PM Saturday (and that's AFTER cutting back hours!!).

Every Day!

A half an hour before Mass every day there is a priest in the confessional waiting.

Of course I limit my confessions to just the English speaking priest :D.
I am not fluent enough in Czech or Polish for the other guys.... they would probably give me absolution anyway though. :D.
The Prague dominicans are da bomb!

our church has confessions from 30-60 minutes before Mass and usually whichever priest is there for Mass that day will go in after Mass to hear those who didn't get to go beforehand.

On paper, on Saturdays for an hour before the Saturday evening Mass (which is in English). In reality the priest isn't there and you have to go looking for him. Most likely he's in his office double checking his translation of the homily into English.

It's one of my favourite (kind of) things to march into his office and say lieve biechtvader, ik ben en zondaar en tenzij ik u alles vertel ga ik direct naar de hel en dat wil ik liefst niet. Which roughly translated comes to: Dear confessor, I'm a sinner and unless I tell you all about it I'll go straight to hell and I'd really rather not.

Heck, this is a priest who addresses me by name in the Confessional and even asks me questions about matters completely unrelated in the middle of it all. If I have to sacrifice my anonymity then I'm going to at least keep reminding him of the consequences of me not being there in the first place.

30 minutes on Saturdays before Mass. Considering my priest is the pastor of 3 parishes, I can't complain. I usually go to Confession at the Cathedral, though, b/c they have it every day.

on hour on Saturday's or by appointment. My Vietnamese priest is so hard to understand though, so I prefer to go to other parishes.

Doesn't "by appointment" in this case just mean "Hey Father, could you hear my confession real quick?"

1hr before Saturday evening mass (5-6)
