Thy Geekdom Come
[i've got a bunch of seminarian friends too, i live right by a Benedictine Abbey. ] It's not Conception Abbey, is it?
FaustinaVianney
I want to become a Dominican sister, but I have to wait a year before I can apply (I've only been Catholic for a year). My home is close to a Benedictine Abbey (St Meinrad) I go to school in Cincinnati and attend Mass at a parish ran by Dominican friars. The first year novices are there as well. Such a holy place!! I love Dominicans!!!
willguy
Raphael, Are you from Conception Seminary? I go to school in Maryville, MO, right near Conception. That's the abbey I was talking about in my post. Oh, and don't diss the Bennies. They're all right.
Thy Geekdom Come
Yes, I do go to Conception.
Oh, and don't diss the Bennies. They're all right.
Yeah, I'm just messing around... I still prefer Franciscans, though...

Thy Geekdom Come
You guys can wear cassocks!?!?!
Hehe...not all the time... We get to wear them whenever we have a ministerial role in the Mass (lector, acolyte, etc.), whenever we're in processions, and sometimes when we are teaching (going around to classes at parish schools and stuff). Unfortunately, the Kansas City-St. Joseph diocese, where my seminary is, is run by a liberal (whom I've heard would allow the consecration of pizza if kindly asked), and I'm only allowed to wear it when I'm in the bounds of the Omaha Archdiocese...but I can wear it when I am a Eucharistic Minister again this summer!!! We can wear them (or any clerics) after we've announced candidacy, though, which can be anywhere from graduation from minor seminary (if the student is headed for Rome) or Theology II. Great Talk! God Bless

Groeschel: Murphy, eh? Do you know what that means? Me: Yes, it's Gaelic for "sea warrior". Fr. Groeschel, grabbing my hand and pulling himself in close to my face: Or pirate! Ah, I do love that friar...he's a very good man... Edited March 6, 2004 by Raphael
