This church is soooo cool. Especially on Oct. 2nd and 3rd.
I was originally thinking that I would go to Southern Germany, swing into Switzerland and Austria with a stop south in Rome to cap it off.
Oh, that area is gorgeous! I went to Lindau im Bodensee (in Germany, very close to the Swiss & Austrian borders) in November one year. Now, it was quite cold, but so beautiful. I hear Lindau is a popular vacation spot in summer, but not in winter. The people there were very friendly. And, it isn't very far from there to Neuschwansteinschloss.
New Zeland and Australia are on my depth chart as well, with Ireland/England following up the rear. I really just want somewhere warmer in January. So cold here.
I wouldn't recommend Liverpool in January, then. Or anywhere in northern England, if you don't want the cold. The southern hemisphere might be your best bet in January.

Well how cold is it? I can bear just about anything I think....but pushing -35C is a little much, seeing as that's what Im used too ;)

Oh goodness, it rarely gets below 0C here (Liverpool). Scotland can get pretty cold, depending on where you are. It hovered around 0C in Lindau when I was there. Rome wasn't bad, though.

I think it was in the single digits, or low teens, when I was there in December (December 8 actually - pretty awesome, even though I didn't know what was going on since I wasn't Catholic at the time).

Yeah, it really wasn't bad. Not cold enough to dissuade me from getting gelatto every day.

Guess what?? I was there today! No, seriously. I was. I had to meet some people near there so I stopped by the garden to take photos. It's sooooooo beautiful. But, it was really hot. They are doing construction on the roof or something...
