Google must divulge the viewing habits of every user who has ever watched any video on YouTube, a US court has ruled.

The ruling comes as part of Google's legal battle with Viacom over allegations of copyright infringement.

...

The viewing log, which will be handed to Viacom, contains the log-in ID of users, the computer IP address (online identifier) and video clip details.
Emphasis mine.

Just a bit. Makes me wonder, are they going to try to sue millions of people? Or are they just going to use the data to show how many copyrighted materials are viewed?

I was wondering that, too.

Just imagine the amount of paper they'll need for that report (unless they decide to make it purely digital).

It would literally just be boxes and boxes full of stacked paper. I would hate to be the guy for Viacom who had to sort through all that.

After reading this article through, it further proves that the idea of 'privacy' truely doesn't exist anymore.

I applaud those who do their best to keep things private, but with how technology these days makes it so much easier to keep log and track your every click and move, it's nearly impossible. The only thing you can keep private, is your deepest thoughts that you keep only to yourself.

Which is why I find it humoress that some punks think they can run and hide from the law, without getting caught. Only the few are able to do that, and usually they're either rich fat cats, extremely cunning, and/or plain lucky.

Or they commit really small crimes. Murder has the best clearance rate of any crime, and it's not too good. The thing is eventually getting caught. ;)

agggh, corporate fascism and all that.

well, if i was ever sued for looking at copyrighted material, i would bring a copy of the list showing how many other people in the courtroom, including the "sue-ers", have done the exact same thing.
