IXpenguin21
do you guys have a spiritual advisor? if so, how did you go about finding one??
M.SIGGA
I really want one, but I don't know how to find out if someone is really trustworthy? Confessional "behind the screen" spiritual advice is the only kind I've ever had other than the counsel of my parents. After reading Dead Man Walking I thought Sr. Helen Prejean might be a good one, but to me she seemed to give her advisees a lot of one word answers ;)
the_rev
I sorta kinda have one, whenever I need guidance I just go to our parish priest and he'll help. But I guess he wouldn't qualify, since I refuse to go to confession with him.
PedroX
I see my parish priest about 2x a month for formal spiritual direction. Its been a good thing. peace...
Pio Nono
JMJ 3/1 - First Monday of Lent As a seminarian, I have a spiritual director assigned to me and it's been wonderful. I can't recommend it high enough. Keep in mind, though, that St. Francis de Sales says that one in ten-thousand men is able to be a good spiritual director (because he needs to be able to look at your soul in a way that many can't). Make sure you choose a prayerful guy as well.

hopeful1
Going to a catholic school, i've had many. But currently i have two people who i consider to be "spiritual advisors", other than my priests'. one guy is at my old catholic school, and i try to visit him at least once a week now that i'm in college ( my old school is just 10 min away). He was raised Catholic but now he considers himself "nondenominational" (which i can't quite figure out how he doesn't consider that to be a denomination, but oh well), but he's been pretty cool about the whole Catholic thing. It's just that sometime when i talk to him about some thing (case in point the potential frustration i'll feel from bein the only Catholic in this christian club I'm in) he doesn't seem to understand. The other guy goes to my church. he left the church when he was younger cuz he didn't understand it, but after reading scott hahn and seeing the church from a covanant perspective, he's back with a vengence! He's the guy that makes me feel proud to be Catholic! He kinda reminds me of Ironmonk-minus the kung fu. I almost got the two to meet once at a bible study at my church, but somehow it fell through. but who knows f\what God has in store for the future. ;)
MrsFrozen
I've never had one, but I wish I did. How do you get one?

BLAZEr
honestly, I've been lazy in trying to find one . . . I have had a spiritual director since my Fresman year in College . . . my favorite, and the best was an Opus Dei priest in Chile. Since then I've tried to stick to OD priests becasue they have been very sound in their direction and very tough on me. I like that. Right now, I need one. aByzantineCatholic
I am having a hard time finding a Faithful Priest to Rome. Until then I will not settle on a Spiritual Father.
immaculata
I wish I could find an Opus Dei priest, but there are really none around that I know of. I drop into our chaplain's office at school quite frequently and talk to him about things that are going on in my life. I'm thinking of making it more of a regular routine. Rebirth flame
i kinda have one... The priest at my high school is always there for me to seek guidance from/ping ideas off of. He's really cool, and it's very helpful to me to be able to talk to someone whenever i need some help with an aspect of my faith life. Spiritual Directors come highly reccomended, but make sure you know you can trust that person first. :D
