Thanks ladies! I'm out of ideas for making my album viewable-- sorry about that! But there are many more and better pictures of the Adorers at their own site: http://www.icrsp.org...Adoratrices.htm .

You can enter a website address at http://translate.google.com/ to have a whole page translated for you.

Can we put the shoe on the other foot so to speak?? I am a PROUD mother of a 16 year old son, who just entered 11th grade high school along with one running start college class. My son is mature for his age, and his father (my ex) have allowed him (we share custody) to live with his 84 year old grandmother, who is otherwise by herself. (she just lost her oldest 60-ish son..who had been living with her.) For some time, I have been experiancing a strong, unrelentless desire.... Although belated, call to the religious life! As ya all know..I am considered (at this point in time of my life) "MATURE"! I am 54. What happen's if I break my son's heart, if I seriously take steps to discern that I am being "CALLED" to the religious life at this stage of my life??? The FACT is- even though my son still has about two more years till he is a "ADULT" my chances at finding a community that accepts "BELATED" vocations grows slimmer by the second the longer I wait! Am I being selfish??? After he turns 18 and I'm getting close to 60 and STILL discerning, then what?? Bottom line- If I DON"T WAIT..and I am BLESSED by the GRACE OF GOD and discern to follow the path NOW.. Am I doing this to hurt my son??? Of course NOT!! Do I expect him to understand what I am feeling? NO! The last thing I ever would want to do, is HURT my son!! He accepts the kind of job I have now..I am a Security Officer. I think Ultimately..he would adjust (Like most parents..when their off-spring are called to the religious life!!) if I were to become a religious. (it's not unheard of..many Nuns :nun3: have children and even grandchildren) Also visa versa! If my son wanted to enter the seminary, I wouldn't feel NEGATIVE about it in the least bit. (I might be a tad sad about the prospect of not having any grandchild to spoil) .

I know several women who have entered religious life after their spouses died and their children were grown. One is a teacher and has two adorable grandbabies (all of the retired sisters love to spoil them!) and the other is in formation with the order I am discerning with.

LaPetiteSoeur, would you be willing to share the names of those two communities with us? Thanks.

I will share the one I am not discerning with, but if anyone is absolutely dying to know which community that is, you may PM me and I can give you the info of the Vocation Directress.

The order that I work with, the Congregation of Saint Joseph, is the one that has the grandmother. She's a great teacher and her grandbabies don't know what to do with all the extra love they get from the sisters!

There are two new photo galleries up at the Adoratrices' site:

http://www.icrsp.org/Photographies/Photos-2012.php?nom_dossier=cardinal_en_suisse

http://www.icrsp.org/Photographies/Photos-2012.php?nom_dossier=retraitesoeurs

Scroll down a bit to get to them. They've chosen a very pale font color so it can be difficult to see the numbers of the pages against the background.

There are 5 postulants. In the last group photo, taken in 2010 or 2011, there were two [both of whom, I believe, have become novices since] so it appears they are getting vocations. From a purely esthetic point of view, I like them very much.

Thank you for that, Antigonos - I love their chant!

I presume they use the Liturgy of the Hours and EF in Latin? They appear to be very traditional.
Perhaps Oiboyz could tell us a bit about the community and horarium, etc. The site does not seem to have any real information beyond stating they are a non-cloistered contemplative community and that their charism [or part of it anyway] will be in doing the fine embroidery for vestments, etc.

Is it true that they are hoping to establish a community in the States? This is a breathtakingly beautiful order, and I so wish I lived in France/knew French!

Come on, Lord, gimme the gift of tongues! :beg: (kidding!)

Well, they are the sisters of the Institute Christ the King Sovereign Priest, how can they not be traditional? ;)

So they have EF and pray the Divine Office in the traditional form.

"Their day is centered around prayer - Holy Mass and the Divine Office in the traditional Latin form, one hour of mental prayer and one hour of Eucharistic adoration in the evening, the Rosary, etc. Punctuating this rich life of prayer are periods of manual labor and intellectual training, including instruction in Gregorian Chant, Latin, Spirituality, Philosophy, and Theology, as well as the learning of crafts such as sewing, lace-making, and the care of liturgical vestments and altar linens."

"As the community expands, it is foreseen that foundations will be made alongside the apostolates of the Institute of Christ the King, where the sisters will be able to provide support for the apostolic work of our priests. It is foreseeable that the sisters will eventually make a foundation in the United States. There are at present two American sisters, and the amount of vocational inquiries from the United States is ever increasing.
Recently, the Sisters were given a building that will serve as their future convent. At present, it is in need of extensive repair. However, the Sisters are certain that with prayer, generous donors will come to realize the importance of their work."

(but it doesn't say where this future convent is...)
