salterrae
JM + JT So I was at a Mass recently where too many hosts were consecrated. Now, I would've thought they could've taken these to the chapel (Mass wasn't in the chapel) and solved the "problem," but for some reason they decided to "re-give" Communion to a few near by. So that raises up two questions: Was re-giving Communion the right thing to do, or at least acceptable? What about this one guy who received three times (meaning two extra times) because of this same situation?
cappie
The GIRM says: 163. When the distribution of Communion is finished, the priest himself immediately and completely consumes at the altar any consecrated wine that happens to remain; as for any consecrated hosts that are left, he either consumes them at the altar or carries them to the place designated for the reservation of the Eucharist. I suppose it would depend on how many were remaining. If it was in the hundreds then I suppose the priest may need help but I think it would be at his discretion. All in all a bad thing and not a good outcome
