When I went to this page I noticed a video on Pluscarden Abbey. I don't know if anyone knows this but they have a dependent house here in the states - it's St. Mary's Monastery in Petersham MA and it is the twin community of St. Scholastica Priory.

here is a more direct link, so those who wish can distribute the video, without the Blog post.

Great thank-you, the current Prior, and another Monk at Petersham are originally from Pluscarden, sent there to help out, since they are both of the Subiaco congregation.

Thanks Ejames. I've noticed this community before, and have always thought they were living their Dominican spirituality in a very authentic and beautiful way. They are small, but I doubt for long.

Thanks so much for posting this...it was truly beautiful. I could see the joy in the new novice's face so clearly...what a blessing for us to be witness to that joy.

The superior of the men's community, Fr. Anselm Atkinson, OSB is also Abbott Visitor of the Subiaco Congregation. St. Mary's is not yet a priory..but pray for them to get vocations...they are a great group, who currently have 6 monks in solemn vows, 3 of whom are priests and one claustral oblate. I've known them well for over 10 years. Abbott Anselm (though at home, he's "just" Father Anselm) is one of the wisest monks I've ever known. He is a kind, balanced, hospitable, and "always at the service of others" monk....a true Benedictine.
