God Is Everywhere

A yound friend of mine asked me this question in a recent e-mail. I gave him the best answer I could, but told him I'd try and get another, more "official" answer for him, too.

"If God is everywhere in the world at once, and if Heaven is being in the presence of God, then what is earth?"

God is infinitely existant everywhere, but in Heaven He is 100% fully present, it's a concept not easily explained by mere human words.

Heaven is to truly see know and be in the presence of God. On earth of course God is infinite so He's everywere, but everywhere is not Him. The earth exists, the earth is not God, yet since God is infinite he dwells all through the earth. His presence is a different, passive type of presence, while in Heaven the full power and reality of His presence dwells completely 100% everywhere, all things in heaven are in God and of God and God is in all things. unlike on earth where God dwells because of His infinite majesty that fills all things, but there are things on the Earth not of God but of human free will or of angelic free will which affect the nature of His presence from one of full reality and power to one of passive keeping an eye on things type presence. so, God from heaven sees to the earth and His very sight is His presence, He excercises a reality and power on earth as in heaven through miracles and comes down in full reality and power in the Holy Eucharist.

God's sight is His presence, therefore His oversight of His creation and His soveirgn provident plan guiding it makes Him present throughout earth.

Through Miracles things are done in full reality and present without other forces like physics or human free will altaring it. only in miracles, most especially the Eucharist, is God present on earth the way He is in heaven.

Well, earth used to be heaven as well.

We used to be physically close to God. We were able to walk and talk with Him.

Then we sinned, and the world became a place that was hard for us and one which separated us from God by our sinfullness.

In short, God IS everywhere, we just have to die to realize it. Heaven is God's presence, so it can be anywhere where God is.
