He was 71. Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT (9 p.m. EDT) after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.[/quote]
Kitty
That makes me sad. Though I didn't agree with his stance on abortion, I found him a hilarious comedian.
Farsight one
It's always sad when someone dies, but he did spend most of his life making a career out of mocking anyone not like him. I can't say I'll miss his anti-religion rantings disguised as comedy.

Era Might
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.
CatherineM
My brother Jimmy is going to be devastated. I think my favorite routine of his was in the 70's where he talked about people accumulating stuff until they have to get a new bigger house for all their stuff. Ahead of his time in that regard. Deb
I loved George Carlin. He has stayed relevant and funny for fifty years. I saw him about five years ago and have never laughed so hard in my life. His language was atrocious and he always had something that offended me but, he was brilliant at pointing out the shallowness and bizareness of humanity. May the Lord have mercy on his soul.
