TeresaBenedicta
I'm just curious as to how many people actually enjoy their jobs and the correlation between that and having a full-time vs summer job. Should we like our jobs? Is that something we should look for when seeking out employment? I have two summer jobs right now and... well, one of them I dislike immensley and the other I enjoy, for the most part. The first is something completely unrelated to my passions and likes in life, which makes it difficult to enjoy. The second involves something that I love. I find, that at least for those of us working summer jobs, we generally have to "take what we can get", which often times excludes working jobs that we enjoy. I find myself longing for the day when I can search for a full-time job that I'll love to do. Thoughts?

dominicansoul
I am working full-time for a University working at the Graduate level. In order for me to receive my retirement in full I will have to be employed here until I am 71. I couldn't imagine, as hard as I try, that I would ever want to do this for the rest of my life. But I see others, and they seem to enjoy it tremendously. I guess that's how I know it just isn't meant for me...
Alycin
I don't have a job, so I nulled the vote.
TeresaBenedicta
I don't have a job, so I nulled the vote.
Oops, I didn't consider that as an option. My apologies. I just keep thinking... society seems to tell us to go and get a job that we'll enjoy, because we'll have it the rest of our lives. And that makes sense. I want to have a job that I will enjoy. But how am I going to know what that is? I mean, I think I want to be a teacher of somesort... but I don't really know. How can I, without experience? Or maybe I just don't like working. No matter what work it is. I hope that's not the case. But, I work as a cashier at a department store, and I can't stand it! I mean, on one hand, it's fine... but on the other, I feel so useless. And I hate (don't hate, appreciate) feeling like I can't make a difference in peoples lives. Sure, I can smile and greet people, maybe that makes their day. But... I don't know.
HisChildForever
I work part-time at a department store. I was really looking for summer work but they were only offering part-time, and I'm willing to see how it works out during my semester. I voted "I like it" - in the beginning I hated it, I thought time dragged, but for some reason either there are more customers or I've adjusted - but sometimes I'd say "it's alright" depending for how long I have to work. 4 or 5 hour shifts, cool. But this week I'm pulling 8/9 (one of my co-workers is on vaca) and it is a bit long.

Deus te Amat
I have a part time summer job as a waitress. I like it, and I get free french fries. I only work a few days a week for short shifts, though. I have a feeling that if I worked more, I'd hate (don't hate, appreciate) it.
BG45
Part time because it's all they were hiring for at Circuit City. Dislike it, but it pays better than my last. Still sending out apps for "real jobs".
Fr. Antony Maria OSB
I'm a summer day camp counselor for developmentally disabled children and I absolutely LOVE MY JOB! If I could sum it up in one sentence it would be I get paid to play for 6 1/2 hours a day: minus the time I spend changing the kids. Although this week we are understaffed, so please pray for us! 7 staff + 20 kids, 6 of whom need a counselor to themselves = disaster in the making

CatherineM
Involuntarily medically retired. Used to like my job. I just volunteer now and am working on my masters in theology. I like being a catechist, but hate (don't hate, appreciate) the RCIA program I teach in. I like the speeches and committee work I do. I like writing, but hate (don't hate, appreciate) the stuff that goes along with it. Just published my first book, but hate (don't hate, appreciate) signings and interviews. mariahLVzJP2
I am a fashion stylist at a department store. I dress all the store mannequins and work on the fashion displays. I get to shop for the mannequins everyday at work!! Its fun most of the time. I am still looking and applying for more corporate fashion jobs or styling jobs with magazines. This is my first job out of college but I am looking for a job that actually requires a B.A. Please pray for me and others looking for work, thanks!
