Yes professionally done by a Photographer for Corbis, for a 2002 article about them, during a profession, it was in the French CDI, magazine i think originally.

I know these nuns and I spent 3 days in the Guest area (for young aspirants), as you can't get into the enclosure unless you become a postulant.

I really like these nuns and their spitiuality is so beautiful!!
But it's one of the strictest convents in the South of France!! You HAVE to have a vocation, if you want to last there.

Wow, that is so neat you visited them! Can you share any more about your visit there? Did you take any pictures you can share by chance? These nuns look beautiful and so dedicated to their vocations as victims in union with Our Lord .. that's quite a vocation .. They look to be Franciscan in spirituality, with the cords around their waists. It is wonderful to see they are still going since 1838 ..

There are some photos of the outside chapel (the one anyone can go to for Mass)

They have the Tridentine Mass every day except for Fridays because their confessor says the Novus Ordo.
It's the strictest Order I have ever known.
You can't see them at all, there are grills+curtains, so it's impossible to catch a glimpse of them.
I just saw Mother Superior in the Parlour (the nun's photo if you scroll up, it's HER) but the sister who is from "le tour", you know that round thing that lets you pass things, I just could hear her voice, just like the Sacristan's. All the others, nothing at all.
Just hear their voices for the Office or Mass, but nothing else.
It's a very special vocation, they are here for REPARATION, for the greatest sins of the world. They are very traditionalistic, and I like them.
I kept in touch with the Mother Superior, and if I am around Marseille, I go and see her in the parlour and tell her all my spiritual adventure and discernment. I know I couldn't join them.

They are so marvellous! the youngest entered there when she was 20. They have lots of vocations! Surely, they are faithful to their founder.

Wow, thanks for sharing! Is this your blog? It is really neat to see pictures from there and to hear a little about your visit. Question .. are they formally a part of the Franciscan Order at all? like a branch of them? so that their final vows might be Solemn like the (Franciscan) Conceptionist Nuns are (although from reading a little more online, I believe they're their own Order now, though I still think they wear the cord)? I would guess they, the Victim Nuns, are a completely autonomous monastery, as all cloistered monasteries are really .. but anyway, I was just wondering. Did they say anything about their spirituality being Franciscan? It definitely looks so .. and reparation and the Cross and adoration are a big part of Franciscan spirituality, the Order of Penance.

I agree with Chiquitunga, they look franciscan to me.

I think they are an independent community now. They have a very strong spirituality based on the secret of Fatima.
I don't know about the nature of their solemn vows, however...
They didn't tell me anything about St Francic, I am not sure they are Franciscan.

They are UNIQUE, there isn't another convent like that in the world. that's amazing!!

That is interesting .. I would be very surprised if they were not at all Franciscan, what with the rope cords they wear .. and their habits being the same/or very close to the color of the original habit of St. Francis. When I first heard of this community, what immediately came to mind was one of Our Lord's appearances to St. Margaret Mary, where He said that of all the saints after His Mother, St. Francis had most perfectly imitated His Most Sacred Heart. And He gave St. Francis to her as a patron and model. So I wonder if this was the inspiration for their Franciscan looking habit .. as they are especially consecrated to the Sacred Heart.

That is interesting .. and it says they follow the Rule of St. Augustine. A page on this priest, [url="http://www.timon-david.org/spip/article.php3?id_article=178"]Père Jean du Sacré Coeur[/url], which mentions him founding this community ..
