What is the story with it?
Joan Carol Cruz wrote a really good book on it. I have it but only browsed through it so far. The Church has a great amount of saints who have been miraculously preserved from decomposition with no scientific explanation. The Incorruptibles You can get the book pretty cheap used. It might even be at the library (though not sure on that one), if it hasn't been burned already due to its potential to extremely benefit Catholic faith. Old_Joe
I was the chapel where St. Catherine Laboure is interred and didn't realize it. I was part of a high school group that went to France for two weeks. The Saturday before we left some of us wanted to go to Mass because we would be flying out on Sunday and wouldn't have a chance then. I was sitting in the pew looking around, and I saw St Catherine's body up front near the altar. At first, I was like, "Why is there a body next to the altar?" Then I realized what it was I was looking at.
HisChildForever
How come there are some Incorruptibles with corruptible parts?
CatherineM
I was just thinking about a century from now having my head on display, and I can't say that I like the idea. I wonder what St. Catherine would think about it?

lilac_angel
Thanks for posting the link. I posted it over on the highly unfortunate Amazon Christianity forum (where anti-Catholicism is rampant...and yes, there's a Christianity forum on Amazon... I stumbled on the unfortunate place while looking at a Catholic book review...if anyone ever feels like battling Protestants, it's a great way to hone your skills!), and so far the results don't seem to be negative. Just the typical defensive weirdness like "that's morbid" from Protestants or Mormons so far, but other than that, I think it has helped. Shows how much logic they have -- showing miraculously preserved saints is the opposite of morbid...it shows that they're still gloriously alive, beautiful, and well in God's Kingdom, rather than decomposed. It just makes them uncomfortable that they're all Catholics who have been preserved. Edited June 13, 2008 by lilac_angel
mortify
It seems sort of strange to put a saint's body behind a glass wall, and some of the bodies of saints appear to be slowly decomposing.
