Stacey
One of their sisters - Sr Peter - comes here (Colwich) for her retreats, she is a lovely, prayerful and smiling person and a joy to have with us. She told us someone was entering soon and we have been praying for her, they are very much looking forward to her entry and we are so pleased for them all. Please tell her we are praying for her and wish her well, sr marie-therese.

Stacey
They only have one entering so it must be the same one, we do hope it all goes well for her, perhaps she may even be on retreat here sometime. pax
jkaands
I hope that the new entrant can get a website and a blog going fast, as Puella Paschalis did at Colwich! This small group at Oulton needs help, and the sooner the better. I am surprised at how many English communities who are in trouble, don't have a web presence, let along blogs, videos, etc.
jkaands
Another small habited Benedictine order in the UK, a branch of Stanhope, is Turvey Monastery, which, I am sure, has no upper age limit is; http://www.benedictinenuns.org.uk/ They seem delightful. I have been asked to suggest some sites for her to look at and will include this one, maybe she will come on. pax

Holy Trinity Monastery East Hendred (http:/www.benedictinenuns.org.uk) is not part of Turvey or any other community but an autonomous monastery of Benedictine nuns in the RC diocese of Portsmouth, about thirteen miles from Oxford. As to being delightful . . . how could nuns not be?????

They are automomous with no links to other communities or congregations. Turvey are either Subiaco or Solemnes congregation - I can't remember off hand. They have a monastery one side of a chapel and monks of the congregaton have a monastery the other side, each house is separate but they do share chapel and some offices i think, thay have their own website - again not at hand but type in Turvey and you will find them easily. pax

Digitaldame
Er, not quite sure you are accurate in all details about the Hendred nuns; but as I happen to be one of them, it may be I know a little more . . . it is not a question of living a "stricter" or "less strict" form of Benedictine life but of being true to what one has professed, cost what it may. Other than that...YAY another Benedictine nun on Phatmass! Welcome
HolyHearts
Just noticed that the Hereford Benedictines do not even pray all the Hours of the Divine Office - just the 5X a day instead of 7; no mid-morning of mid-afternoon. Normally Benedictines pray the full Office in Common....Now why would they cut down on the prayer-life if they are from Stanbook?
