Was this done on purpose ?
Yes, it was done as a joke, it was created at the time that a thread exactly like it was made, except with both choices. XIX
You know, I just noticed the double-disapprove, too...like literally 2 minutes ago not kidding, either.
Nihil Obstat
Lol, is it a really bad thing that I didn't notice?
kujo
I disapprove of this thread.
JustJ
I don't understand why. Spending is up like crazy. We're in a war we really do not have any place being in. Our personal civil liberties are being attacked. Bush is not doing a very good job as a true conservative and defender of the constitution. I'm not saying a democrat would do better, but this guy is not doing a good job.
Lisieux Flower
I disapprove of repeat threads. Except this one. Because I got to disapprove twice.
Lisieux Flower
Also, I found it interesting that most people chose to click the 2nd disapprove instead of the 1st disapprove. What about the second one was more appealing? There should be a psychological study done on this.
picchick
Hm, I think that people are going by that one poem I use to say in grade school: "First is the worst Second is the best Third is the one in the polka dot dress."

That was why I always ended up third...

kujo
They clicked the second option because it is expected that the first should be "approve" and the second will be "disapprove." It's called analogical reasoning--we make assumptions based on prior experiences that something will be the same way.
Statistically speaking, there isn't *quite* enough evidence to conclude that it's anything more than a coincidence. Unless you are doing a double-tailed test.
