Alycin
Some people really do put salt on their melon--it's most common with watermelon but some people salt all their melon. And cottage coagulated milk with catsup doesn't seem too weird. After all, lasagna can be made with cottage coagulated milk and tomato sauce... it's just heated. Nihil Obstat
All right... I hate (don't hate, appreciate) to interrupt such an intellectual discussion ()... ...but I'm actually interested in this whole Bush thing. I'm Canadian, you see, so I'm not informed enough to know for myself. I know that a very very large number of people hate (don't hate, appreciate) him... although I think most of them don't know why they think that. Although that makes me think that I might like him. After all, I don't have the same opinions as 90% of the people I talk to. So, back on topic for just a moment, could anyone help me become better informed? Crash course on contemporary American politics?
dominicansoul
I think you have an interesting point...that people hate (don't hate, appreciate) him without knowing why. It could be that people just follow the status quo...."monkey see-monkey do." ...I personally don't like that he started the war in Iraq. And he keeps our troops there and doesn't bring them home. Now they all make fun of him like the rest of the country. It irritates me, because I have never liked Bush, and they used to gripe at me about not liking him... I don't think they knew why they liked him then, and I don't think they know why they don't like him now.
Nihil Obstat
Well I don't know how people my age are in the States... but I know that here in Canada, George Bush is basically synonymous with "screw up idiot". It's like he's the archetype of the most intellectually deficient person who could ever have existed. You may think I exaggerate, but I promise you that I don't (in this case;)). These days it's 'cool' to bash Bush. In fact I haven't heard anyone I know say something positive about the guy for as long as I've paid attention. Now, I've read that the Church opposes the war in Iraq... I can see why... but I can also see why it was a very attractive option to invade. Well attractive is the wrong word, obviously, but you understand what I'm saying. On the plus side, Saddam isn't in charge anymore, right? ...but anyway, amidst all this ignorant mockery, I've realized that it's an extremely silent minority that actually know what the're talking about. No one knows *why* Bush is the biggest idiot to ever be in the White House. No one knows *why* he should be impeached. They should "WAR IN IRAQ!" "BUSH WANTS TO STEAL OIL!" or "FASCIST POLICE STATE!" but do they actually have any basis or evidence for any of this? None that I can tell. As a bit of consolation, the most vocal of these people hate (don't hate, appreciate) Stephen Harper almost as much, and for even less defined reasons.
