I'm in God's house, knowing that by the end of the Mass, I will receive Christ.  I don't need to sit all the way up front.  I feel most comfortable in the back.  That comfort allows me to concentrate on the Mass and the Eucharist fully.

thats true carrie! i think the only reason why i sit up front is cuz im blind! :nerd:

hahahaahahhaahahaa :rolling:

but when ever its not my homeparish, i hide way in the back cuz i dont know anyone.

but its so true, we all got our sweet spots, yes we do!

I almost always sit near the back in the middle of the church....I also sit in the back of most of my classes....I just feel more comfortable there.

We had this priest come in to talk to my confirmation class a couple of years ago. He challenged us to do one of two things:1) Call up everyone of our family members and say that we loved them. or 2) To sit in either the first or second pews. I did the later. I love it though, being so close to God and His word. amesome!

I sat near the back at my first Mass 'cos I didn't have clue what would go on and I wanted to copy everyone else! :D

Now I still sit near the back and at the aisle end of the pew if I can. It's so my daughter can get out to go to the children's Liturgy without much fuss!

I don't know why, but no matter what church I go to, I usually end up sitting in the middle on the right side.

On the first day of school when we're all taking our seats in the classroom for the first time, everyone always sits in the way back. The teachers always joke, "Oh yeah, all the good Catholics always sit in the back!" ;)

While I'm at the Sminary I don't get a choice as we're allocated Chapel places. Otherwise somewhere near the front, because that's always guaranteed to be the emptiest in a Catholic Church! I think good Catholics always do sit at the back whether it's Mass, other prayers or any meeting where there's a second row to hide in!

For me, the closer up front, the better. Why? Because since no church I've ever been to allows a sufficient period of silence after Communion, then if I sit up front, I can have more time for thanksgiving after Communion. I know I could do it after Mass, but after Mass everyone is talking and stuff, and I'd be distracted. With daily Mass, however, it's a different story -- I don't mind staying afterward, and I actually do it almost every time.

I like to sit up front (about row 6 to 8) for two reasons:

1- Usually it is more quiet up front, the talkative people and the people with noisy kids usually sit in the back.

2-Receiving Communion early on gives sufficient time for any other reflections/prayers that I (and Jared) like to pray afterwards.

Oh by the way we go to a very large church that is shaped like a cross. We usually sit in the main section on the left side b/c that is where the priest or the deacon distributes Communion. It gets pretty loud in the back rows, one cause its so far back people don't try and whisper and two because the greeters right inside the door are half deaf and talk in loud outdoor voices. To be able to hear yourself think you have to sit at least midway up in the center section.

Usually wherever is closest to where I park and which entrance I enter. If I'm late I'll sit in the back, but if I'm at the Cathedral or any traditionally designed church I sit anywhere that doesn't have a statue or a column in the way of seeing the altar and the ambo :D

I voted for "In the cry room/parent's room". My little one is 19 months old and is in the stage of blurting out words every so often. My wife and I feel the need to be courtious to others while she is in this stage but we normally would sit toward the middle of the Church.

it was kinda funny. last saturday at daily mass, there were 13 people in this large church. The farthest anyone sat up front was row 10! :D
