I am not one of those people who says that you have to sit up close. I think of it as, this is God's home and you sit where you are comfortable in a person's home. Like, I wouldn't be comfortable sitting on a hard chair in someone's home (that's what I liken the front pews as), so why sit there?

well, i think it has a lot to do with where you sat growing up in church. we sit usually in the middle. but i'm usually more comfortable sitting in the middle towards the back.

We usually sit towards the middle, at our parish (usually) the front and back fill up pretty fast. I also try to sit closer to the end of the pew so if Adrienne gets fussy I can take her out fast and not disturb and/or deafen the people around us with ear piercing shrieks (she gives those when she gets restless during particularly long homilies!).

we sit toward the back but sometimes we sit in the crying room when my brothers and sisters act up or there's just no room for our big family. let me tell you, that crying room is like purgatory. ;) it's so noisy and i don't know. i just seem to suffer a lot in there, lol.

it's really hard to pay attention there, too.

You know what drives me nuts about the cry room? When people who don't need to be in there come in and take up space, and then you try to go in there with your crying child to feed and calm them down and you can't even sit because there's a bunch of able-bodied people sitting in there! I mean, if it were a little old lady with a cane who couldn't stand through the Mass if its really packed then fine, but when you have a group of teenagers.... grrrrr. Whole families with small kids are fine, I don't have a problem with that Colleen, just in case you thought I was going to say that next! I just think there's a problem when the priest has to make announcements about how there's room in the pews and to get out of the cry room so parents can go in there with their CRYING children. (And yeah, it is hard to pay attention most of the time, because even if your kid/siblings are behaving no one elses are!)

I find myself sitting more towards the front, but not directly AT the front. I like to be close to all the action. I am an altar boy and serve practically every other week, so i end up in the front quite often as well. I don't really care where i get to sit as long as i can go to mass. :D

I Like having a very good view beign near the front, not directly in front mind you haha but i want to focus fully on the altar and not be distracted with a bunch of heads in front of me. hahahahahaaha

but we all have our spots i think. cuz i know i feel weird if i sat on the other side of the church cuz i always sit on one certain side.

after years and years of one spot, you tend to fight for it when you need too! LOL

 :rolling:

Thats so true Flowery! I always tend to sit on the side the parking lot is on! lol When I'm in NY in the parish I grew up in I always sit on the right side, but here in Steubie I always sit on the left.

But dont you guys want to sit closer to Christ body?

I'm in God's house, knowing that by the end of the Mass, I will receive Christ. I don't need to sit all the way up front. I feel most comfortable in the back. That comfort allows me to concentrate on the Mass and the Eucharist fully.
