I had a neighbor threaten to turn me into human services because I was letting my sons play in the mud. We'd had a tropical storm touch the coast, and it was just the perfect combination of dirt and water to make the mud like oatmeal. I just hosed them off in the yard when they were done playing. They had their swimsuits on, and had a blast.

Um yeah, I think social services would have been irked if your neighbour had called for that one. My parents couldn't really keep me out of the dirt, and we have pics of my little brother (foster brother) after he'd been playing in the mud after a rain. It was just fun, and we washed off with the hose before coming in for a real bath. My brother was actually wearing his normal clothes, too.

I love the way dirt feels after you till it and you pick it up and let it slide through your fingers. I like combing my fingers through dirt too.
