Fr. Michael Pfleger Getting Media Attention Over Rev. Wright

Wow. Obama is going to get screwed by anything that happens in this church, isn't he?

Anyway, I this priest as a point...some people in this country are not happy about the prospect of president who is a) black, b) very liberal and c) has a "Muslim" name. I think Hillary, without outright accepting that fear, is playing on it, through comments like how she's gonna win the "white voters" across the countries, as if Obama can't!

The Cardinal should yank this guy and reassign him to Siberia or something!

and replaced with something that will adopt their fallacious views..no joke not much will be done about it..

To me the only issue is that the Fr. is promoting the most pro-abortion politician that has ever run for any office.

Obama actually said in speaking about his two daughters, that if they made a mistake by having sex and geting pregnant, he did not want them to be punished for their bad decision. He sees pregnancy as a punishment! I cry every time I think that those words came out of the mouth of someone who has a good chance of becoming the President of my country. It is so wrong and so evil and there should not be one single Catholic priest out there supporting this man. I don't care what else he promises, what kind of human looks on the creation of a child as punishment? What kind of Priest actually tries to help that person become President?

To be fair, I think he meant that he doesn't want his daughters to have to pay the consequence of being pregnant. I don't think that's a bad thing. I wouldn't want a teenage daughter of mine to have to go through being pregnant; however, where Mr. Obama and I differ is that he sees abortion as a solution, whereas I don't.

Don't look for something that's not there. I don't think he sees pregnancy as a "punishment," but rather an unintended and unwanted consequence. Perhaps he should teach his daughters the truth about their sexuality and encourage them to save themselves for marriage. Maybe THEN they wouldn't have to even worry about this stuff.

Chicago resident chiming in here.

I've heard Fr. Pfleger speak at a young adult conference once, he actualy was very orthodox and in your face about backing up the church's pro-life position and took a hard line on premarital cohabittation by refusing to marry cohabitating couples unless they stopped cohabitating.
Fr Fleger is very popular among the blacks in Chicago. There is one thing noticeable on the YouTube video of him, saying how much he loves Louis Farrakhan is that the parish is standing-room only. Perhaps Cardinal George will not deal with Fr Fleger properly because Fr Fleger has such a big following in his arch-diocese.
That's part of it. A few years ago, the arhdiocese tried to enforce a rule that you could not be at a parish longer than 12 years as a pastor, and he's been pastor of St. Sabina for I think 25 years. Well, Pfleger also is a person who never met a TV camera that he didn't like, and allowed rumors surface that he would leave the Church. And the way it will invariably play out is that the big bad white Cardinal George will be portrayed as "the 'man' keeping us down" if he tries to discipline Pfleger, so any strong disciplinary message will need to be delivered by the auxillary bishop for that particular vicariate, who himself is African-American.

Now, though, he is generating bad publicity as well; there was an incident in which he was arrested at a suburban gun shop dring which he said some inflammatory things that some took as calling for the gun shop owner's murder. This may create an opportunity to slip in some extra discipline.

Well, much of the bureaucratic leadership may still be filled with holdovers from 60's and 70's, but there is enough lay people who are not, as evidenced by such things as the existence of St. John Cantius parish, the fact that Opus Dei has its own parish, the large immigrant Polish population which is by no means liberal/homosexual.

I am not looking at his remarks as anything other than what they were. Here is what he said,

“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby”

So, how could I see this as anything other than saying, I don't want my teenager to be punished for making the mistake of having sex. PUNISHED WITH A BABY.

I have to say that if this man is my choice for President against a Republican, (and I say republican without trying to hurl) I may have to vote republican for the first time in my life. I may have to be drunk at the time but, I may have to do it even if it is Hillary. Heck, I may have to be drunk and high.

That's pretty cool, glad to hear the positive side of this priest. Paints a better picture.

That is a great offer but, I have a fifth in my freezer and a fifth of Tequila in the cupboard. This may be the toughest November of my life. In fact, I may have to ask my doc for some sedatives so I don't beat myself up.
