Um...can someone let me know which of these bands is alternative / electronic / metal rock, if any? It would be amazing if I found quality Catholic music in any of those three genres.

Well, Seven Sorrows seems to apply to both alternative and rock. There's this chick named Monica Ursino who has dabbled with electronica, and manuel3 has some elements of funk and stuff. Check 'em out!

Out of the bands from my list Eterna, Illuminandi, Vulture of Corpse, Uniao and Rosa de Saron are metal.
Metatrone, Cavaleiros Consagrados, Oraculo and Beatrix are other decent ones.

Fr. Stan Fortuna (I met him a couple of times)
Matt Maher (I met him once)
Bob Rice

Actually, instead of talking about bands, Check out the Franciscan University for the Steubenville Conferences CD's. They have great Catholic music on them. :)

i agree. the genre next to the name, or a link would be nice, or maybe similar sounding bands, else i wouldn't really bother looking all of them up.

the only Catholic ones i like songs from are

Matt Maher
Danielle Rose

i don't know many on the list above, but the track record from Catholic artists hasn't done much for me so i'm not exactly in a rush to check them out. there are however, tons of non-Catholic Christian bands that are amazing. i guess there's no room for a Christian top ten?

Seven Sorrows gives their CDs away for free. I used to kid them about being the best "free" band in history when we'd gig together. Send them an email from their website at http://sevensorrows.com or let me know and I'll burn you a copy. You should be able to download most of their music online, though.

Hey, Dave, thanks for mentioning Tony Melendez. I was shocked that no one had mentioned him before.

I have to agree with johnnydigit that most Catholic bands/artists leave me unimpressed, except perhaps for a song or two. Of course, my not liking hard rock, metal, and most rap might make a difference there. And I have trouble liking a song if the lead vocal doesn't have a true voice (so I don't like songs where the vocalists distort their voices or are flat or the like).
