Coldplay's Viva La Viva

I dont know, I think this may be getting blown out of proportion. I can see why people dislike Coldplay. To be honest they arent even in the same league with other Brit bands like Radiohead.

On the otherhand to me its just music. I enjoy them as pop music that is pleasant and uplifting. I dont get into the politics and side stories about bands so I really dont have any arguments to make.

Anyway I hope you guys make peace.

Noel's angel

I don't hold grudges. Especially over something as trivial as a band (unless you disrespect Paul Simon. I'll hate you forever then ;))

I don't think Noel's opinion is "vomit."

Maybe spittle...definitely a sour-burp....but not vomit.

:P

[size=1]Im pretty sure that my favorite thing about the cd is that they chose to use the hammer dulcimer as a frequent instrument.
That is one FREAK of a cool instrument in my opinion.

You can hear it best in 'Life In Technicolor' and 'Lovers In Japan'

At least Im pretty darn sure its the hammer dulcimer.
If not, then it sure sounds like it!

Coldplay's new album is great. Amazing lyrics. I love the music. But that's my opinion.

I first heard about the song on AmericanPapist blog and was excited...so I went over to another site and listened to the song.

I was really disappointed. It doesn't strike me as anything great, mediocre at best since there are a few catchy lines, but I actually listened to another track on the cd that I found to be much better.

Anyways I really enjoy music and as my knowledge in this dept. is non-existent, I can only say that it doesn't hit me, or strike me or bring any real emotion to me, such as joy, or sadness or being able to relate to the song.

I agree with you. I actually liked the lyrics in general more than the music, but still a good album.

Sooooooooooo after this whole "Coldplay is stoopid" business, I was interested in finding out WHY.

I dont ever really look up a bands background etc unless I really like them, and thats when I realized I really didnt know much about Coldplay.

:idontknow: I dunno why, but I just never took the time to learn something about them...where they came from.....who they were and yadda yadda.

So today while I was at the library, I happened across the Rolling Stones magazine that advertised an interview with Chris Martin on the front cover.
YES!!!! This was my chance! So I grabbed it and sat down and started to read.

Once I was done however, I was like "WOW, Chris Martin is kind of a Johnsonville brat."

Yeah...the one thing that pissed me off the most was when they asked him about his religious background. He totally talked smack about that period in his life where he believe certain things due to a religious view point and pretty much implied that people who believe in Heaven, Hell and "morals" (especially pertaining to gays etc) are idiots.

He thinks Obama is a god and as soon as he becomes President the "world will improve overnight." Seriously. :idontknow:

So yeah...
This still doesnt mean I HATE their music, but it certainly makes me think differently.

Chris Martin may be a musical genius, but he is still a Johnsonville brat.

Love the song and Love the album, Coldplay is a great band to write too, just intense enough to get going, but still soft enough to keep concentration.

Love them.

Old thread.

Anywho, love the song. It's one of those "memory" songs for me-- whenever I hear it I'm brought back to a particular feeling/memory/place in time.
