Adrestia
To the people who chose "other" on the third question: What else do you expect from the homily? How often do you get it?
Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ i would just like to sit through a homily without having a heresy fiddler on.
Adrestia
I am so spoiled!!!!!!!!!! Our parish now has a priest visiting from the Philippines. He chanted the mass! It was so beautiful I was almost in tears. Today's homily wasn't a ton of bricks, but it was several hundred kilograms. Last week's (Corpus Christi) homily was like an unassisted triple play - with three major take home points that still resonate in my soul. Today's homily left me with one deep thought. It was very good. Praise God for priests that spend time in adoration so that they can better feed us. CatherineM
Our priest is in the hospital, so we have a visiting priest who is a Theology and Philosophy professor at the seminary in Toronto. He did everything in the mass the right way. Every movement, every prayer, it was so wonderful, but it did make me realize how rare that seems to be today. Needless to say this homily was great too. He taught, he explain, and he inspired. I feel bad thinking that I'd like him to stay, since that would mean our pastor staying sick.
dustthouart
Well, currently I'm in Taiwan studying Chinese, but my Chinese is still not the greatest. I have trouble with the homily since most of the time I am just trying to follow it... and if you think it's easy to get distracted when it's in your native language, try not getting distracted when you can't figure out what the priest is saying... Most of the time I can tell what the general idea is, but I get bogged down in the sentences, sometimes I hear a sentence and think about what it means for a few minutes, but of course while I'm thinking about it the priest keeps talking and then I'm lost! The homily I will always remember is Easter vigil, 2006, when I was received into the Church. Bp. Wuerl (now Archbishop of DC) preached on the Real Presence. I thought it was just a crystallization of everything I came to the Church for. I was spoiled in Pittsburgh, great homilies. But even if the homily is boring or empty, Jesus never is. :
Deb
The homily Saturday night was longer than usual but, it was so great. I will get a copy of it as they are taped on the weekend. I was crying by the Gospel so this just topped things off. Such an incredible lead to the Liturgy of the Eucharist. I love Mass!

Deb
My church has 7:30 morning Mass on Mondays, 9:00 morning mass on Tues and Fri and then 6:00 evening mass on Wednesday. Almost all the churches around me have daily Mass every day. Thursday seems to be the day most do not have it so I set up my weekly adoration time for Thursday eve. I do try to go to Mass every day but, only seem to make it about five times a week.
